Greatest Fights of All Time Discussion

I always say you judge a fighter’s greatness based on two things. The fights he made and how he performed when he was challenged. I have never been swayed by win lost record. Because that has a lot to do with how your management felt about how you would perform in challenging fights. Don’t get me wrong winning is great. But you have to overcome a challenge to be truly great. And when you do that you make memories that last forever. Below are the type of fights that put you in that rare air of the sport. Challenges were made and met.

Do you agree with their selections? What memories stick in your head the most about these fights? What fights are missing that deserve to knock their selection off the list?

Got a lot of those fights, I can see you're getting them from obama at boxingscene cause he uses sweetboxing password for all his files.

1982 was a travesty. That Bobby Chacon vs Bazooka Limon fight was great but the Wilfredo Gomez - Lupe Pintor match that year was probably the best Super Bantam fight EVER and deserved to be FOTY.

BUK dope thread with the links.....

Thanks! I love this sport. I got a lot of fights on dvd. Shit. I still got fights on vhs tapes. But it is easier to find links on the web and post them for you. Merce77 had a dope boxing thread too. This really is so we can have links and discuss the fights. Vacation next week and I up links for all these fights.

It has a hip-hop instrumental playing in the background but it's the whole fight. I always thought Tito reminded me ALOT of Rosario style wise. Anyway, great action in this one.

the fights that are missing to me and i rave about these fights all day every day

Prince Charles Williams vs Merqui Sosa I and II

One of them deserved the fight of the year over the 1995 FOTY Saman Sorjaturong KO 7 Humberto Gonzalez. These are the most violent bouts I've ever seen at 175. First fight is more well known for the double technical draw after 7 phone booth rounds of punch fuckery from those 2..the ref and the doctors had seen enough which actually might be one of the fairest calls I've seen in boxing. the rematch was just as violent with a wild stoppage in the 10th round for Merqui. Prince Charles was carried out on a stretcher after that one. Just jaw dropping brutal pair of fights that should have gotten the nod for 1995.
