I managed to stay away from spoilers and I missed this whole thing.
I decided to caught up on a the two newest episodes and saw this shit.

I'm done. Removed the series from my DVR schedule last night. The gay or close to gay stuff in the episode wasn't even a factor. The silliness of the series has finally gotten to me.

It was COMPLETELY unnecessary
They could have done exactly the same scenes and storyline WITHOUT making him gay.
In fact that would have been even deeper and more complex story and love triangle.
And it sends a very powerful message that these 2 men love each and are connected by madness death crime and blood.
They essentially did that with Butch when the riddler took his spot, but it was because of Tabitha.
It would have worked great here.

The messed up thing about it is that I didn't have a problem with Penguin becoming mayor and still being a gangster,but his bullshit side story is dragging the show down
Shit is just inexcusable. I had a feeling the episode before they were going to pull some sideways shit, when Penguin kept getting googly eyes Everytime he saw Riddlwr, but I figured that was due to admiration of helping him in the race. They niggaz just made him a ball cupper. Yuck

I actually liked the villain being the police chief...I would have stretched that out all season
with him trying to confuse the entire police force while leading them
even the girlfriend coming back to marry the gangster son COULD work...especially if they turn him evil.

Better and more subtle writing could have still had him gay , but have Nigma and Cobblepot fall out over other reasons then the ones they did.
Cobblepot story arch since he became mayor has basically been, Im in love with ed, ed doesn't love, me, kill anyone who love ed.
