GOTHAM: New 'young' Batman - themed series on FOX

Thanks to Bills and Jay I finally figured out this show...

It's a modernized version of Batman '66

And this episode was just all that on 45 min...not perfect but they have chosen a look tone voice and esthetic and stuck with it.

And I'm happy Jada came back cause she damn near drafted the acting/performance blueprint for every villain after her.

The cast looks like they having fun, they just doing whatever they want and bow have an out if they kill a character too early.

Ok it didn't make sense...

Strange got hit full blast heat and cold ray and lived?

Gordan reboot?

But it held my interest throughout.

AND who would of thought we would see Azreal on tv?

Court of Owls? Croc? Mad Hatter?

And potentially Talon?

They just having fun...of course if could be better but I get what they doing now.

Say what u will but they made their own distinctive lane.

My only gripe, these villains that are supposed to show up, they are villains that Batman faced in his older years. Are we gonna see the Gotham PD take down Grundy and Clayface? Is catgirl gonna take down Mad Hatter and the Tweedles? They should have jumped ahead about five years and then introduce those villains, so we can actually see Batman before he starts becoming one of the best. But nonetheless, good episode.

Was that Bane at the end?

In May, TV Line speculated that Vicki Vale was coming to Gotham, and today, they canconfirm it.

Several weeks ago, TV Line had some details on several series regulars being added to the third season of Gotham. One recurring role on the casting call was described as an "ambitious young journalist" in her "late-20s." At that age, we can assume she won't be a love interest for Master Bruce as she has been in the comics and Tim Burton's 1989 film.

Back in 2012, we ranked Vale as the third-best comic book journalist of all-time. Here's why:

Very few people have been able to connect the dots and figure out just who exactly Batman really is, but Vicki Vale is one of those people. The character has had a strange history in terms of appearances. She was an often-used character through much of the Golden Age stories of Batman, but she was absent for the Silver Age, making only a handful of Bronze Age appearances before coming back full force in the late 1980s (with Kim Basinger's role in the 1989 Batman movie largely to thank for that). Vale lands on this list due to her tenacity and her intellect. In the pre-new 52 universe, Vale connected the dots and finally cracked the secret of Batman/Bruce Wayne. She even figured out the secret identities of Nightwing and Batgirl Barbara Gordon! Over the years though, she's faced down the likes of Catwoman herself, saved herself from Ra's al Ghul, and has stood her ground even when being told she was dead wrong about something when indeed she was not. She was also a key reporter in the events of "Battle for the Cowl." Vicki Vale is definitely not a reporter to underestimate!

Additionally, Vale appeared in the Batman: Arkham series of video games. She's an investigative reporter for the Gotham City Gazette, who is fearlessly dedicated to rooting out the ugly truths behind the city's corruption and poverty.

"GOTHAM" ADDS "ONCE UPON A TIME'S" JAMIE CHUNG AS VALERIE VALE

A report from earlier this month indicating that Fox's "Gotham" was possibly adding Vicki Vale to its cast has turned out to be true -- sorta. TV Line has learned that the proto-Batman drama has indeed added a member of the Vale family to its cast -- although it's not Vicki.

Jamie Chung, known by fans as Mulan on ABC's "Once Upon a Time," has joined "Gotham's" third season in a recurring role as Valerie Vale. Like Vicki, the character is also described as a reporter for the Gotham Gazette -- a "crackerjack" one "dead set on uncovering the truth behind Indian Hill." She'll be pressuring Jim Gordon for information about the story in season three. Valerie is also Vicki's aunt; that makes sense, as Vicki Vale is traditionally a love interest for Bruce Wayne, a character played by 15-year-old David Mazouz. It's not yet known if Vicki Vale will show up on "Gotham."

Chung's take on Valerie Vale isn't the only new character for the season. The Fox series is also in the process of casting a new Poison Ivy, as the character is expected to take on a more prominent role in the upcoming season.

"Gotham" is set to return for its third season on Monday, September 19 at 8 PM ET.

In other “Gotham” news, supercute Jamie Chung, a veteran of MTV’s “The Real World,” has been cast as Vicki Vale’s hot aunt, journalist Valerie Vale.

5’10” model-actress Maggie Geha, 28, is replacing 5'1" child actress Clare Foley, 14, in the role of Ivy Pepper for the third season of “Gotham.”

Fox explains the growth spurt:

Following an encounter with a monster from Indian Hill, Ivy Pepper finds herself reborn, and one step closer to the DC villain she is destined to become: Poison Ivy. Now a 19-year-old woman who’s harnessed the full power of her charms, she sets her sights on Bruce Wayne (David Mazouz).

They must definitely be going to do some kind of time-jump for next season..
*paging geechiedan to start the clock...*

Gotham and Izombie don't really get mentions as good comic book shows...

I rather watch this than Arrow any day of the week :hmm:

word...i cant believe how bad arrow has gotten...

it`s sad really...

the show that kinda jump started it and all the newbies has passed it...

Why would they?

They already recasting ivy and if Bruce has yet ANOTHER growth spurt she may be too young for where they going...

Right now it's a modernization of Batman '66, darker more graphic.

Ya'll ain't forget the slap already?

We gotta see where they headed...

Certain Suicide Squad Members Might Appear in the Next Season of Gotham

08-suicide-squad-gotham.w529.h529.jpg

Fox’s Batman prequel Gotham might just offer clues into how Suicide Squad got made. No, not how the critically-panned movie went so wrong, but how the individual villains-turned-heroes got their starts in the decades before the Dark Knight took over crime fighting. During a Television Critics Association’s press conference, the show’s executive producer John Stephens revealed at least one of the characters will make an appearance in young "proto" form in the third season. “We will be seeing proto-versions of some of [the Suicide Squad] characters; we’ll see a proto-Killer Croc version," Stephens explained, "And we’ll be seeing a character — perhaps not this season, but in times to come — who can be a forerunner for Harley Quinn."

While he didn’t reveal outright who would play a younger version of Adewale Akinnuoye-Agbaje’s character, he did say, "If you see someone who has a scientific anomaly to their skin that it grows in a certain way, 'Oh, I’m going to take that and grow Killer Croc from that in the future.'" Last season the program similarly introduced a psychotic smiling character named “Jerome” who is never explicitly referred to as the Joker, but most people assume we'll see him with green hair before the series finale. Any girlfriends this Jerome brings around should certainly be suspect of future squadding.

HERC: We only saw Jada Pinkett Smith in two episodes last season. How many episodes can we expect to see her in this year?

GOTHAM EXECTUTIVE PRODUCER JOHN STEPHENS: Well, right now she’s in the first two and then she goes away for a little while. But not away. She kind of goes into the background, plotting as always to return. So we hope to see her again in the second half of the season. But we’re not sure how many episodes it’s going to be right now. I’m sure she’ll cause havoc when she returns to Gotham, so …

Someone else asked if Solomon Grundy, a character who’s been part of DC Comics since 1944, would be a product of Hugo Strange’s Wayne-funded monster factory Indian Hill.

“Solomon Grundy, that’s related to Indian Hill and to the Court of Owls, and that mystery of how the creation of Solomon Grundy actually happens,” hinted Stephens.

“Gotham” returns to Fox Sept. 19.

Gotham is returning this September and is set to make some big moves regarding all the new characters. The season ended with multiple shadowy figures escaping from Dr. Hugo Strange’s Indian Hill Research Facility. Of course, while they may present new threats, some older foes will still be pushing the heroes to their limits.

There have been plenty of new looks at the characters recently, with new posters and images from the show adding to the speculation of what is to come. As the premiere gets closer, it appears there is even more in the way of actual clips being released to highlight some key elements of what to expect from this new season.

The official Gotham Twitter page has put out a new promo featuring setups for both Gotham and Lucifer, with an emphasis on seeing what dark depths the heroes will have to go down to in an effort to do what is right. Speaking to Gotham specifically, the clips shown feature Jim Gordon (Ben McKenzie) working outside of the law and Bruce Wayne (David Mazouz) talking up what kinds of choices he will need to make. All this happens while Penguin (Robin Lord Taylor) and Fish Mooney (Jada Pinkett-Smith) appear to be the center of a brewing war between criminals and other cast members briefly appear to give devilish looks concerning their varying nefarious activities.

Season two of Gotham put a large emphasis on its subtitle “Rise of the Villains” and this third season certainly seems to be bringing the heroes down to their level with its appropriate tagline, “Heroes Will Fall”. With a lot of hints that theCourt of Owls will be a large focus of the season, this could mean the series will be getting even darker than ever. It makes a level of sense for young Bruce Wayne, who will have to court plenty of danger in order to grow into the superhero we all know, but what this show has planned for Gordon is more of a mystery. We know he’ll be back with the GCPD at some point and eventually rise up in rank, but what other kinds of suffering will he have to go through first?

Gotham has fortunately gotten a better handle on what kind of show it wants to be. That does not excuse some of the sloppy storytelling and what often amounts to style over substance, but if the show wants to be both incredibly violent and very wacky, at least it has a better handle on how to best accomplish this. Adding so many Batman villains before there is a Batman has its problems for those who enjoy a level of comic-based continuity, but there is at least some ambition in seeing how Gotham tries to set itself apart.

One just has to hope this season of Gotham does not lean too hard on making things as dark as possible. Yes, the series is more interesting when it deals with its villains, but at the same time, as gritty as Gotham City can be, it would be great to see a bit of light at the end of the tunnel.

Gotham season 3 premieres September 19th, 2016 on FOX.

I find it hilarious that they're going to have Harley Quinn on Gotham for future seasons, but got rid of the Harley Quinn on Arrow...

And,I hope they explain the Poison Ivy's age up,because it doesn't make sense to age up the character with no explanation. The explanation better make sense also.

GOTHAM SEASON 3 TO FEATURE 'PROTO' VERSION OF KILLER CROC, HARLEY QUINN TO COME LATER

Gotham's Executive Producer John Stevens has revealed that both Harley Quinn and Killer Croc will make appearances in Fox's Batman prequel.

Speaking at the TCA Press Tour on the back of a huge opening weekend for the Harley and Croc-starring Suicide Squad, Stevens said that season 3 of Gotham will feature a "proto" Killer Croc, while Harley Quinn's forerunner will also appear, but "maybe not this season". The full quote is below, via Heroic Hollywood.

"A lot of those characters, because they’re in Suicide Squad, we’re not going to be seeing them this season. We will be seeing proto-versions of some of those characters; we’ll see a proto-Killer Croc version. And we’ll be seeing a character — perhaps not this season, but in times to come — who can be a forerunner for Harley Quinn.

Stevens also said that Hugo Strange's experiments in Indian Hill, which came to a head last season, are a "bridge" of sorts to Batman super villains, and that Killer Croc and Solomon Grundy are tied to it. Take that as you will.
