The topic of race identification on the upcoming census was brought up on Glenn Beck's radio program this morning, and controversial statements ensued.
The whole issue apparently merited discussion because three of the available boxes to check in order to identify your race are "Black," "African-American" and "Negro."
Beck was quick to clarify:
African-American is a bogus, PC, made-up term. I mean, that's not a race. Your ancestry is from Africa and now you live in America. Ok, so you were brought over -- either your family was brought over through the slave trade or you were born here and your family emigrated here or whatever but that is not a race.
Think Progress notes that on an earlier program, Beck had admitted that he didn't have "a lot of African-American friends, and I think part of it is because I'm afraid that I would be in an open conversation, and I would say something that somebody would take wrong, and then it would be a nightmare."
Such foresight.
I actually agree with him. Is anyone offended by this?

I'm an evolutionist. DNA tells the story of man. When you look at genetics, you realize all this shit about race is silly.
White people, are essentially, black people that turned white due to less sun in the north and lack of Vitamin D. It's as simple as that.
If black people migrated to Canada and stayed there over the next 50,000 years, they would turn white with straight hair.
If white people migrated to Sudan and stayed there over the next 50,000 years, they would turn black with curly hair.
It's all about how close you are to the equator. Period.

One of my best friends is Afro Cuban. We laugh about this subject cuz he still considers himself African American, because he is, but he's Also Afro Cuban which he also claims. So I call him African American Afro Cuban lol When given a choice on census-like survey's he chooses African American, cuz it would be silly to mark Latino when you live the Black experience for the most part, although he still identifies with being Afro lAtino.

That is true. It would take a few generations but you would basically adopt to your environment.

It's just a made-up simplified term. Most of you do not know who you are nor do you know of which specific country of Africa your ancestors were from before being brought or sold over here.
We live under a westernized civilization, under their rules, many of them do not make sense and many of them were obviously set in place to our detriment.
You can prefer to be called an African-American or Black American or either of those combined with which ever African Nationality your bloodline leads to... but at the end of the day there is no way the American Govt. is going to divide and redefine terms already set in place to describe all Blacks/African-Americans based off of whichever African Country/Nationality you may be from.
...with all the interbreeding between African slaves, from different tribes/countries, native americans, caucasians even some spanish thrown in... we're pretty much a mixed bunch.

So legitimate ethnicities are "Asian American", "Hispanic American", "Jewish American", but not "African American"? Why is the phrase African American singled out when phrases like Asian American are okay? Why must African Americans be referred to as a color "black" while Asian Americans aren't called "yellow"?
These cats in here hate Africa, and everything associated with it.. so when a CAC's says something that is in line with their self-hatred, they embraced those lame ass thoughts.

Dude, regardless, we are survivors (humans). If exposed to an environment long enough, we are going to adapt. I don't think all white people are going to die out unless the change is too sudden, hence, throwing a bunch of native americans into the cotton fields and they die out from heat exhaustion. The sole reason why we were brought over here is because our skin could handle the sun. If whites are given a chance to adapt to a tropical climate over a period of 50,000 years, they are going to get darker. And since they are in a hot climate, their hair will no doubt adapt and they will lose the fur-like hair texture they have now.
I don't understand how you can't see this, based on this map
Native Americans arrived here 15,000 years ago, yet in that time period, you see how certain pockets of indigenous cultures have gotten as dark as Central Africans in certain pockets of South America, particularly where there is no rain forest.
^ so you think that if White people are exposed to high levels of UV sun, they will turn black or start producing melanin? Will they do this before or after they die of skin cancer?
btw - the only thing your map shows is that darker people are a majority of peoples on the planet earth, and lighter skin people's migrate to colder climates. There has NEVER been any example of ANY people turning white or black based on climate.
