now maybe you didnt see anything coonish because your girl fits into one of these characters, but to real black people this shit was stereotypical bullshit that was created by one of the whitest men on two feet. and fuck flavor of love too.

Either way, i was not the target audience, i could care less. I jst think a tern like "coon" should be held for when it really is needed. In this case, it dont fit. I guess becasue the black guy had a successfull job and didnt raise his voice and bug out his eyes makes him a sell out, i just think it's his character.

You didn't like the show, respect. You can dislike whatever you want to. As previously mentioned, however, the show wouldn't have lasted as many seasons as it did if an overwhelming majority of its viewers didn't disagree with you.
Some of your facts are twisted. Joan cheated on her boyfried, true, but she cheated because her boyfriend had a child and a baby's momma with out her knowledge. Secondly, the Brother she cheated on cared too much about his career, and not enough about hers.
Toni was an airhead, who was way too materlistic, that also true. But she did care about, and love, that broke artitst Brother--which is part of the reason why the white dude she married left her. Moreover, it was Toni who caught the STD not Mya.
Mya was a teenage mom who married her baby's daddy. But she didn't cheat physically. She kissed, but didn't fuck, the guy who stalked her. The fact that her husband didn't want her to go to college, and was holding her back is what lead her to that. Her husband found out about the kiss and divorced her. She later remarried him.
Except for the fact that she was a woman, Lynn was no different from any man. Granted, she did fuck a lot of different men. But excluding that Jamican dude, who refused to get a job, she didn't want a relationship. Lynn was all about female sexual liberty. She was an irresponible freeloader, true; but, she was a single woman with no kids. Since she was only responsible for herself, why should she have to be anything different?
I'm a professional Black male, and I try to date professional Black woman. If you think that the woman on Girlfriends are man haters then it's likely that you have issues. The characters on Girlfriends are discriminating, but so am I. At this point in my life, I relate more to Girlfriends than I do to the Cosby show. If others didn't agree then the show wouldn't have lasted this long.

Nuff said. You're wrong on this. Each character had that man that they submitted to. Joan had the sex addict: Lynn had the Jamacain dude who was just like her and didn't want to work; Toni had the starving artist guy who left her because she cheated but realized that she wanted him; and Mya had her husband. Each character had a man who they submitted to. However, how does submissiveness come into the calculus?
Girlfriend's principal audience was indepenedent Black Woman. Black Woman need their own identity, and Girlfriend's, to date, is the only sitcom that satisfys that niche. What other sitcom was about Black Woman, and for Black Woman? As I have tried to show, none of the characters on that show innately harmed the image of the Black Woman. Black Woman are diverse and complicated, just like Black Men. Girlfriends is the only sitcom that tried to show that.

C'mon Bruh, it's obvious that you didn't avidly watch that show. Joan was infamous for her six-month rule--i.e., she wouldn't fuck a man before she dated him for six months. Joan was the main character, if you didn't know that about her then it's obvious that you didn't know that show. Mya, the most ghetto character on the show, only fucked two other men beside her husband. Both the men she fucked she fucked when she was divorced. Girlfriends wasn't really about sex, it was about relationships. The fact that you don't recognize that tells me that you didn't understand that show.

that was him,he played mya's ex husband,they later re-married..originally he was
played by flex alexander(one on one,homeboys in outer space)
at one point they even had demond(lamont sanford) wilson as lynn's dad in a episode
