Girl abducted on way to school in Virginia, arrest made (What age u let your kid walk to school?)

my daughter is 12 going on 13
and isn't allowed to walk home

at most she is allowed to walk to her little sister's with friends where one of us pick her

we'd rather be safe than sorry especially with girls. we are lucky to have a retired grandma and flexible work schedules

I caught the (public) bus home starting in kindergarten. Walked or caught the bus all the way through 10th grade. Didn't let my son start walking home until 10th grade. In my neighborhood there are plenty of little kids (backpack bigger than them) walking to school in the morning.

no doubt. I mean trust the kid to be street smart. There is going to be some risk until the child is grown. That risk never goes away for a female. I guess it revolves around when the parent thinks the child can defend him/herself or get away from danger. Its fucked up, but I remember having to run from crazy motherfuckers as a child. When is the child going to notice that a person is strange and dangerous? One of my friends was followed home and attacked (included stabbing) by an adult. That shit had me on guard like a motherfucker.

Seems he told the lady that he was going to kill her after dragging her and the child into her house and then her son woke up and scared him off with a sledgehammer.....still took the little girl even with all that....raped and sodomized the little girl....ain't no sense in letting him out in 20 years on some "stay this distance away from a school" type shit...he dont give a fuck and will definitely do it again if given the chance

I walked to school since 7 or 8, in both Bk and L.I., I have never let my kids (4 daughters) walk to school. As others have said, these are different times that we are living in.

Facts!! Its nearly nonexistent now. We caught ourselves laughing and watching some kids who were actually outside playing in the neighborhood. An I'd put a small wager on it that the kids we saw playing will most likley grow up and have pretty good lives. Community is very important for confidence, social growth, and protection of future generations.

Mom got home from work at 7 dad got home from work at 430 so I'd be home alone for like 45 minutes lol

Walk home go in lock up do my little work sheet fix a snack then watch cartoons ... Before I'd be ready for snack my dad would be home and chilling with me

He'd send me to the corner to buy cigs for him when I got to 2nd grade and the black guy sold them to me cause he knew it wasn't for me lol.

I just hung up with my mom and she send I was going to the store with a pocketful of money back then..

She also promptly promised to turn my black behind to dust if I even THOUGHT about letting my girls go to school by themselves any ctime soon

she also said hi Bills you must a good a good responsible boy
 
I walked to the bus stop @ end of the street and back at 6 yrs old.

My kid...gotta be at least 32 these days.

Man. I was going to mention that. It wasn't shit for kids to get cigarettes coming up. Hit the corner store up for milk, cigs, and get a candybar or gum.

Had a friend walk home after being paddled at school. Could tell he was banged up good. They made him sign the fucking paddle too.

Some homeless guy was walking behind me. I turned around a few times and he was far looking kind of suspect but I kept walking was almost at my friends house but he closed in and put a knife to my neck and robbed me fir my lil 35 cents for my chips and candy I'd get at the store on the way. Punk ass bitch scarred me for life.
