Ghostface Wins Judgement Against Wu-Tang Productions

I'm not a Fif fan, but it seems like he's giving them cats money they ain't earned. I ain't mad at Fif. A happy crew is a strong crew.

Curtis has a good understanding of how power works.
He moves like he's spent alot of time studying war, leadership and power.

 @ 50. 50 always treated his artist good financially. Buck was the only one who had a problem because his uneducated stupid ass doesn't know shit about anything

That's one thing I give 50 credit for. He reached out to a lot of acts struggling on other labels and gave them FAIR DEALS along with his artists.

But he also was smart and realized when it was time to cut their asses loose or renegotiated their contracts under G-Unit when he realized they were being:
(A) Lazy
(B) Stupid
(C) Not pulling their weight
(D) All of the above.

i do and Rza would never go that route.

that dont mean he doesnt have the capability to. wheteher he do or dont, is another question altogether g. i speak from what i know some of those dudes i been fuckin with since 92.

I hate when people start out by saying "Im not a fan"...like so fucking what?you have to be a fan to say he or she is doing something good or something you dont agree with.

You dont have to like it but your going to respect it

Ive seen the interview with Rae and this whole situation is sad. But its business. I will only side with rza in that if the contracts say he should get 50% for production then thats what it is.

I honestly think that they could have written up the contracts differently to make sure everybody was getting their fair share of money.

The only thing which Im curious about (as Heist was saying) is what happened to the money each member made during WU-TANG FOREVER. That was in essence the height of their popularity and I know going on tour with rage that summer, they had to been making some nice money. Its sad to say but some of these cats outside of rza and method man really didnt know how to manage their money.

Fuck that shit, pay those men their money. RZA be on that samurai shit, but from the outside looking in one would question his sense of honor.

Meth really isnt that much of a materialistic dude compared to his contemporaries.:smh::yes:

FAM I JUST WAS WITH RAEKWON A FEW DAY AGO BEFORE HE WENT TO GERMANY... IM A BROWNSVILLE,BROOKLYN JUST LIKE RAEKWON, AND U-GOD... ALOT OF YALL THINK STATEN ISLAND WHEN YOU HEAR WU-TANG..
NOT KNOWING MOST OF THEM FROM BROOKLYN...

I BEEN KNOWING THEM PERSONALLY SINCE I WAS A KID...

I GOT MY FIRST PLACEMENT BECAUSE OF A WU-TANG CO-SIGN.

Y'all talking about cats that fuck over their crew, don't forget Uncle Luke.

Dudes need to remember that RZA, LUKE, SUGE, JD. Made these crews what they are.
They had the vision and put in the work in to get them the fame that allowed them to make money from the music business.

I agree with both sides. RZA produced 5 Wu Records in a row, almost exclusively. He gave them their sound and identity.
He dearned what ever money he got.
RZA is saying that he is not taking no more than all of the other producers/artist Rea, Ghost, U-God have worked with and i'm sure that's true.

But If the contract didn't say he got 50% as the producer of every track PLUS a percentage of the artist cut from tracks he rhymed on, then Ghost had every right to SUE for money he thought he was owed.

I know how RZA feels, becaues I owned 90% of the equippment I basically Co-Produced, Mixed, Arranged, Engineered, did all of the post production on 4 of my crews demos/albums plus 3 of their solo joints.
They turned around and said i'm trying to be JD and control their music.

They would come in the session LATE, not have their rhymes or beats ready to be loaded in the work station, bullshit and argue for 40 mins, then would go outside and smoke for 1/2 hour while I prepared THEIR beats so all they had to do was come in and spit their rhymes.
Then once they left at 2am because it took them (30 takes per verse) I would go into post production adding samples, echos, overlays and what ever else they said they wanted.

I explained to them if they ever got a major lable deal they would have to pay me extra for that kind of work. They said I thought I was JD or somebody.

So i am sympathic to RZA's point of view.

Just WOW @ some of the replies/ side conversations...

Anyway, the love of money, man. Niggas went from "analogue to digital" and left no bread crumbs, got lost. No wonder most of their material over the past ten years has been, to me anyway, far less than optimal. I hope that now that the money situation is working itself out? And since nothing was really too personal, it was strictly business? They can get back on point and come with some optimal shit...

peace

 @ Sig
This sounds like what RZA was saying in that quote over a few thousand.
Shit's on & between them kats for me as dont know all the particulars of their understandings or situation.

peace

That's because rappers stay stupid. Props to Diddy, Jay, 50 Cent, Master P, Birdman and all black entrepeneuring artists in the game. Ghost and dem stay suing because they don't sit down and read up on the game. They have short lived careers in a shady industry. Which chamber were they in?

That's why Diddy had to air out the Lox. Dudes scared to read. TV ain't tell them to stay dumb. Rap ain't tell them to stay dumb. Man up and read up on your damn career. YOu see the last generation fell the fuck off!

the next generation will half to take the GZA/soulja boy/kanye route and produce their own music to drop bars because there's no money in making music but they can't replace the shows (for now)

Meth really isnt that much of a materialistic dude compared to his contemporaries.:smh::yes:

Also meth diversified by going the acting route...smart man...I fuck with the Wu all day but some of them cats are just not business men..

You can tell when a rapper about to go broke and dont have a fall back when he "all of a sudden" starts remembering when he got cheated out some money.

Like I said during the WU's glory years this was a none issue for all the clan members and then once they started falling off, all of a sudden mofos got problems and issues with wu-tang records or wu-tang productions. Shit started with U-GOD and Cappa and now we are at this point.

Thats one thing I respect about Master P. He tried to show mofos on No Limit records the game. If they were paying attention was totally on them.

Fuck Ghost.

Music publishing is divided 50/50 between music and lyrics. Too bad they had 8-9 ninjas rapping on the same beat. When 2-3 cats work on a beat for Jay, they don't each get a quarter of the publishing. Jay or whoever wrote the rap get half.

Ninjas are weak. :smh::smh:

I was thinking the same.A big reason WU was successful was because of the concept and beats. The reason some of the WU members didnt cake up was because of how many people they had spittin who they had to split royalties with.
I wonder how much U-God got.He was always was garbage and seemed like a hater.

As for RZA, he is wu-tang. He deserved the biggest piece of the pie. He produced all the music. All them niggas did was rap. He coulda got anybody to do that. It ain't his fault those other clowns don't know what to do w/ their money & dont have the talent to continue making income like RZA, who can do movie scores. They're all jealous of RZA. He's a business man. They're pseudo street dudes in their 30s who reminiscence about their glory days. Fuck em

I wonder who are the guys that founded WU was it this guy named POWER? who else hand their hand in the WU empire. I dont know them only listening to rza and raekwon that they hustled rhymes and from interviews (street shit) their way up to form the supergroup but who has their name as founder?

I think the RZA is the founder

I think the RZA is the founder

I know RZA and Power control WU-Tang Productions.

This reminds me of when ODB got out of jail and signed with ROC.

RZA Called Dame saying he was still signed to Wu-Tang Productions.
ODB had Power on the phone asking why they never visited him or put nothing on his books while he was locked up. Then he Hung Up on him.

I thought RZA, ODB, and GZA weer blood cousins. Power is RZA's brother I think.

The reason they were scared to read is because in the hood it's cool to be dumb. And the more ignorant you are, the more you are praised unfortunately.

The reason some of the WU members didnt cake up was because of how many people they had spittin who they had to split royalties with.

Even if they had to split monies, think about all the shows they did, especially in their prime. Wu-Tang was worldwide, you mean to tell me cats didnt have enough money to balance and invest it into other businesses when they had the chance? I find that hard to believe

Yup, they're all blood fam and Power is Rza's brother...Thats the original "All in together now"
