Getting into the film making industry

Hello all,
I searched through 15 pages and didn't see anything related to this so i am making this topic. I am trying to find info about the format for writing scripts and how hard it is to shop (sell) them to a studio. Or even the process to shop them.

I also am interested in the process of making an indie film myself. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks

First thing I learned (after writing a whole bunch of scripts and deciding to shoot a short film) was get a crew together.
You might hate the idea since you probably wish to start with no budget but in the end you'll learn that you can't do everything yourself.
Actors are reletively easy to recruit and most are willing to work for "free" as long as you can guarantee free lunches on set.
My final advice would be to plan, plan, plan and then plan some more. Nothing stinks like showing up on set and not having an idea of what you're trying to shoot.

So, your film is done and you're thinking 'what next?'. An idea would be to enter it into your city's film festival or any of the small national festivals. i learned from a few pros that to enter festivals like Sundance or Cannes, you'll need to hire a sales type agent cos the whole shit is a hybrid of politics and business. I'll share some links when time permits.
