Real Madrid Superstar Rejects $1 Billion Offer From Saudi Arabia, MARCA Reports

Vinícius Júnior has rejected the chance to leave Real Madrid and take a contract which would have been worth almost €1 billion ($1.1 billion) over five years, according to Spanish newspaper MARCA.

The Brazilian international was completely aligned with his club in turning down the offer from Al Ahli, who were seeking to negotiate a deal with Real Madrid which would have seen them pay below his €1 billion ($1.1 billion) release clause as a transfer fee, instead paying what would almost certainly have been a world record fee.

The offer also sought to put Vinícius Júnior on a pedestal alongside the likes of Cristiano Ronaldo and his former team-mate Karim Benzema in making them the faces of the 2034 World Cup. It was a once in a lifetime opportunity for the forward, who has instead opted to focus on sporting success with Real Madrid.

He does so as one of the leading candidates to win the Ballon d’Or for 2023/24, having been the star of the team’s run to win La Liga and the Champions League.

Vinícius’ current contract at Real Madrid is one he signed late in 2023 and which will run until the summer of 2027, with an estimated wage of €11 million ($12 million) per season. That pales into insignificance in comparison with the figures on offer should Vinícius have moved to Saudi Arabia.

It will be nice to see more Black kids pick up soccer because at a young age we tend to dominate due to size, physicality, speed, agility. However, it’s also dangerous because poor coaches will only have our kids play to their strength as opposed to developing them to be well rounded players.

Last weekend I saw a young brotha who just started playing show flashes of brilliance as a future striking threat. He was unarguably the most talented kid on his team but needs polishing. Seem like the coach just wanted him to do one thing. I’m going to try to snatch him to our side.
