The one thing I can't stand is germs, or the thought of...:puke:

How germophobic are you?

Germophobia: An apprehension concerning germs. Someone who has such a concerns is often referred to as a "germophobe" or "mysophobe". This phobia's concentration is on the destructive nature of germs, bacteria and other microbes.

There 2 main types of germs, Microorganisms and Viruses.

Fungal SporesViruses are a microscopic particles that cannot reproduce on their own. To reproduce they must infect another the cell of a biological organism. Viruses are made up of caps ids. A capsid is genetic material surrounded by a protective protein coating. Different types of viruses can infect a wide variety of organisms. They may infect animals, fungi, plants yeasts and bacteria. Virology is the study of viruses and "virus" is Latin for poison. Notable viral disease includes HIV/AIDS, influenza/FLU and various other fevers.

Microorganisms, also known as microbes is any organism that that is microscopic. We are mostly concerned with pathogenic microbes that can invade other organisms causing disease. The most alarming that we want to know about is bacteria. Bacteria are the cause of diseases such as tuberculosis, plague, anthrax, malaria and sleeping sickness.

There are ways of managing your exposure risk to viruses and bacteria all while leading the exact same normal life that you are. Knowing that a door knob carries more bacteria and viruses than a toilet seat is the biggest lesson that you can learn. Also the use of anti-bacterial items that are in constant contact with hands (such as keyboards and computer mice) are simple measures that will greatly reduce your risk.

I knew a rastaman like that one time. He was always steering off into space ans shouting GERMS, GERMS, FUCKING GERMS, DIE GERMS while beating up any infected area. A guy spit near him once and i thought the guy was going to get beatdown.

Then again he had migrating home from England so it was to be expected he was off his rocker.:lol:

On the real though i have an aversion to even shaking peoples hands nowadays though.:smh:. Was in Baku once and this white guy used the toilet and when i stepped away so he could use the sink he walked straight thru the door. Since then i hate the thought of having to put my hand on bathroom door handles or grimy looking ones.

I wash my hands too much. At least 4 times an hour. I know that. I keep alot of lotion.

I'm not worried about germs, I just latched onto that, to keep my compulsive behavior under control. I also think it comes from painting.

But women get mad at dinner, because I can't even have crumbs on my fingers! I use my thumb on my fingers to instantly get crumbs off. I hate crumbs, I CAN NOT have my hands dirty, unless I'm working on something, under the hood of a car, etc . Any other time . . . NO.

But I also brush my teeth at least once an hour, I'm just weird.

I think it all is compulsive.

I have alot of little quirks.

:(

I love order, a nice clean place but I'm not compulsive about it. As for germs yeah I need things clean. For years I suffered what I thought were colds, dozens of them. My doctor told me it has to be allergies. Turns out he was right. So yeah I try to keep thing's in order and clean especially the kitchen and bathroom. I need to buy stock in Lysol. Also keeping my hands clean is a must but to call it a phobia maybe a stretch.

And the almost OCD ers come out of the network.

What is Obsessive-Compulsive Disorder?

Obsessive-Compulsive Disorder, OCD, is an anxiety disorder and is characterized by recurrent, unwanted thoughts (obsessions) and/or repetitive behaviors (compulsions). Repetitive behaviors such as handwashing, counting, checking, or cleaning are often performed with the hope of preventing obsessive thoughts or making them go away. Performing these so-called "rituals," however, provides only temporary relief, and not performing them markedly increases anxiety.

People with OCD may be plagued by persistent, unwelcome thoughts or images, or by the urgent need to engage in certain rituals. They may be obsessed with germs or dirt, and wash their hands over and over. They may be filled with doubt and feel the need to check things repeatedly.

Effective treatments for obsessive-compulsive disorder are available, and research is yielding new, improved therapies that can help most people with OCD and other anxiety disorders lead productive, fulfilling lives.

Damn, LS, that was cold. You knew that post was going to bring out the OCD people.

Hey, ya'll, we live in a nasty fucking world. Always have. I am as concerned about hygiene as the next guy, because it's a health issue. But if humans were so highly succeptable to micro-organisms, we would all have perished long ago. When I used to ride the subway in NYC I thought "why don't we all just die being this couped up together?" Because we just ain't that fragile, that's why.

Be clean, okay. But dayum. BTW, when anyone find out a clean way to eat a pussy- which is LOADED with all kinds of bacteria, please let me know.

Robeson, your mouth is loaded with all kinds of bacteria, as well. The vagina is a self-cleaning organism, It may have all kinds of bacteria down there, but we need it so it keeps the ph balance of our vaginas intact and we don't get infections...

duly noted, Jo, and I'm the last guy to complain about the bacteria down there. Most of ya'll keep it pretty clean, so I usually have no complaints. I didn't say HARMFUL bacteria. LS's observation was about micro-organisms, which I think included bacteria.

No, pussy is child friendly, right? So it can't be a dangerous environment (well, that's another thread). My point was that we are surrounded by bacteria- I will bet your toliet seat has less germs than your kitchen counter- why? You probably keep fecal matter off your toliet seat (sorry), but your kitchen counter has all kinds of stuff to attract germs.

This is why my last relationship ended. My girlfriend was anal about her obsession with cleanliness. She would freeze up if one hair was found in the tub after my shower, yet her hair in the sink was beyond questioning. Of course her germs were not a problem when I was lapping her down. Last time I heard, my germs were the best germs she ever had. She keeps calling my mother six years after we broke up!

My point exactly, T. Cleanliness is one thing. I'm all for it. But it is real easy for this shit to move into an OCD. If I see a cockroach in a restaraunt, I can't eat there. But there is probably not a restaraunt anyhwere that has NEVER had a cockroach crawl across the floor, at least in the kitchen.

OCD is some serious shit. some people can't leave their house without checking to see if their stove is off, atleast ten-twenty times, an hour later or so.......I've got a friend like that. Keeps checking his car to make sure the alarm is on, after I've told him activate it. crzy shit, but hey.

i work in an office w three doors to the ladies room. coming back i use a paper towel.

i work with someone who picks their fingers (they peel off the cuticle and skin below their third knuckle. GROSS. and that same person does not wash their hands in the ladies room. and that same person is quick to touch open candy bowls or chocolates and then pick up something else.. GROSS.

i buy anti bacterial wipes and wipe down everything once a day, mouse, keyboard, desk, phone.
