Before Mike Vick...I read about McClellan's history with dog fighting and some of the sick shit he use to do to his pits....also a great fighter....after the Nigel Benn fight (suffered severe brain damage due to a clash of heads IMO) dude has lost all knowledge of his Boxing career...now blind and deaf....

Karma?

"McClellan was fascinated by the tenacity of pit bulls. Most dogs, Johnson says, whimper when they're hurt. But pit bulls keep fighting."

The Official Fight with Benn...

That fight with Benn was a disgrace. Straight up bullshit on the ref's part. Benn was ko'd and the ref did a crazy long count. Benn was rabbit punching the shit out of him as well. McClellan was no joke, could have been a great one.

Yes i saw that fight...was CLEARLY KO'd by the G-Man i was soo pissed after watching that fight

benn-mcclellan is still one of the hardest fights to watch....fight was brutal and tragic....the ref was highly incompetent...regardless of the fouling you have to admit benn had balls of steel that night...i still cant figure out how he got out of that 1st round....most ppl do harp on mcclellan's injuries but what happened to him was the result of other factors coming together at the same time

he was weight drained
he already had brain damage (courtesy of julian jackson in the 1st fight)
he had never went past 8 rounds before in his career

dude was on borrowed time..he wasn't going to have a long career even if he did get past benn

I agree the Jackson fight took alot from G-Man but he was only 28 when he fought Benn in England....IMO he wasn't a damaged fighter yet and was in his prime ....he didn't lose a fight in yrs before Benn...

the fight was exciting but ugly....IMO the violent clash of heads and accumulation of punches...and everything you mention just ruin Gerald's life....

dude really was fucked up after that 1st julian jackson fight..he had terrible headaches, 1000 yd type stares, and the rapid blinking which was really prevalent in that benn fight..dude wasn't built for hard fights anymore thats why after that he was coming out guns blazing knocking dudes out in the 1st rd...the plan was for him to cash out with a megafight with roy jones but well everyone knows the rest

This is true, but I'm not sure how much the 1st Jackson fight took from him, let's not forget what he did to Jackson in the rematch, he ended up looking better the second time around so...I remember Roy Jones saying McClellan was one guy he didn't fancy fighting at middleweight, having already lost to him twice in the amateurs on the way to the Olympic trials.
