They've both maintained flexability since I plan on teaching them martial arts and my daughter has "eiditic" memory...which is both good and bad. If he can converse with you then you good since I assume that is much of his learning, via the conversation, my kids grandparents are too far gone already, set in their ways. This could obviously be a much longer response but just stay the course, teach them quality of life in family, friends and choices made over quantity.
