Fair enough. She brought it on herself. And her decision to marry him when Littlefinger gave her an out is on her.I didn't chide anyone. I just disagreed that just because she was a dumb kid means she deserved to be raped. I think you said she deserved everything she got. I disagree.
Regardless of how he was treated, or how he became a "hostage", he wasnt allowed to leave. Thats effectively a kidnapping. Semantics.No. He was given. By Balon. They didn't come in sack the city and take Theon. Balon gave him as a hostage. And theon wasn't treated badly. Robb saw him as a brother. They kind of all did. Jon and Theon had a little static but for the most part kids were raised together. All the kids loved Jon and saw Jon as 1 of them. Sansa didn't really treat him that great. But that was because she took her cues from her mother.
Everyone else treated the kids pretty much the same.
Now that you mention it, stabbing a showing pregnant woman to death in the stomach- at a wedding no less- is arguably one of the most violent things ive ever seen on television.ya the scene wasn't even as bad as I was expecting it to be after reading the comments...as someone said daeny endured worse...shit to this day the most horrifying scene in that show is when robb queen got stabbed in the stomach...rewatched the red wedding the other day and that shit still fucks w/ me hard
wow and as I finished typing that I googled GoT to see exactly how far the show is in relation to the books and come across this article
http://theconcourse.deadspin.com/game-of-thrones-is-gross-exploitative-and-totally-out-1705235364
That article was some bullshit. Basically, they saying if the girl who got raped in the books would have gotten raped it would be all good....but its a problem because it was Sansa, who they mistakenly refer to as "one of the show's most sympathetic characters." This is CAC outrage at the pretty white girl gettin done dirty. Deal with it bitches....aint no ACLU in Westeros.![]()

Man, I have no clue what Little Finger is doing
I don't care about the rape part...there's more to the article than that...in lines of what I was mentioning to amajor I was focused more so on them noticing that the writers may indeed be painting themselves into a corner as they deviate farther from the book...the article also mentions other events in this ep as well as previous eps...going back to the sansa scene based on the comments in this thread I thought that would've been a powerful moving scene...based on the camerawork tho it's like they wanted you to focus more on how theon was being tormented than sansa
For it to be rape she gotta say no. Sansa didnt like what was happening...but she had no expectation of liking it. Nevertheless....she was down. Yall trying to rewrite the rape statute to include "discomfort".![]()
I feel you...and I thought about your take on it as I was typing my response....but had to go in on the bullshit outrage.
I think its easy to shit on the writers right now cuz its "off script," but we'll have to wait and see if the focus on Theon had any significance....which I suspect it did. Aside from the shitty directing in the Dorne fight scene, I had no problems with last night's episode.

playing devil's advocate here a bit...but some say the last ep was the beginning of the end as the show took its 1st big step away from the book by killing off selmyplaying off of the books there was a lot to cram into each ep...as the writers begin to deviate from it...the writing might become more 'TVish' for a severely extreme lack of a better word...but they might start stretching/drawing shit out a bit more...this is the 5th season...and w/ all they've skipped they will soon run out of material
Little Finger is collecting all the power strongholds/alliances and power he can outside of Kings Landing. Look:
1 - He was given Harrenhall - almost impregnable (only the dragons can get through to it and thats cuz they fly)
2 - He rules the Vale (sp?), again via legitimate means, no army can fuck w the vale
3 - He trying to get the North/Winterfell one way or the other, either from Sansa or Cersei+Tommen's royal degree.
4 - He and Mama Tyrell got that alliance going when they off'd Joffrey...far as I know they still on good terms.
3 of these 4 come with Armies - Tyrells, The North, The Vale. Only Harrenhall is empty but that can be a base for the sell-swords he pays off.
So right now Lord Petyr Baelish got more power that most people realize. And he still hustling like its Day 1
Mr Lengthy
nope.
the absence of a no doesn't mean yes.
she could fear so much for her safety that she goes along, against her will with a sexual act.
at this point, I'm not even talking about the show, you absolutely have to know these things, unless you think pleading ignorance is going to save you from prison.
at the end of the day, grrm is involved in the show's production, and has already told them how it ends. at this point i just treat g.o.t the same as the walking dead; tv and books are different entities have similar points![]()
I did...first ep I had a problem w/ as a whole...and the article nailed a lot of it well imo...the article is not an "outrage rape" piece if you really read it
as it applies to life in 2015...I feel you. But gtfoh thinking that logic has any place on GoT.
I'm not talking about that. But its pretty clear based off posts how people think about real life based on what they see portrayed. As did you.
Anyway, I'm done with it. The outrage people have is silly, its a rough scene, but there's more pressing shit people should be vocal about than a tv show.
These dudes will literally change facts to suit their warped logic.
I wonder if you guys know that consensual sex can turn into rape. Or that a husband can rape his wife.
You're a law abiding citizen? Your fucked up view of sex can land you behind bars. Better be careful.
exactly...we've seen the dudes who play jamie + bronn in classic scenes...seems like they almost had to tone it down to fight these small ass chics who are probably doing their first fight scenes EVER
Watching this scene I was like " I bet they don't let one of these bitches die" tv always going soft on women![]()

the show hasn't slacked a minute imo.
i think they want to shit on the writers because the smug look of knowing what's coming has been wiped off of thousands of faces and they don't like that shit
man...im talking about the reaction people have in here TODAY about it.why u pretending that was was law back then.![]()
Look at this bullshit

^^ Agreed.
Plus I think LittleFinger's ultimate 'end game' is this....
He thrives on Chaos.
Chaos is his 'ladder' to the Iron Throne.
He wants to be 'the last man standing'... as the King of Westeros... amidst the Chaos.
And he wants A STARK... as his wife, if/or when he ever becomes King.
But he wants ‘a Stark Woman’…. TO WANT HIM (ie to ‘fall in love’ willingly, on her own).. just as much… as he wants Her.
If her Mom (Caitlyn) were still alive… he would probably be scheming like this just as hard… to rekindle that relationship & win her heart.
But he will settle for Sansa… since she’s the LAST (female) Stark left… and he knows that deep-down inside SHE is just like Margery Tyrell, in a certain way.
i.e. She always wanted to be ‘THE QUEEN’ (more than anything).
Not just ‘a queen’.
So he’s playing the ultimate 'Captain-Save-A-Hoe' role (on steroids) towards Sansa…
Think about it..
He saved Sansa from King Joffrey... by killing him off.
But that was not enough to make her fall in love with him... because she was too young & traumatized (at the time) to have any real control over her own emotions.
- So he convinces her to wed another monster (Ramsay).
- IF she gets revenge and kills off Ramsay somehow… he will take ALL the credit.
- But if She doesn’t kill him… he will ’swoop in’… and do it FOR HER…. yet again.
This way, he looks like the ultimate ‘good guy’…. when compared to all her other ex-husbands.
But this time, she won’t be ‘too young’ for him.… plus she won’t be a ‘virgin’ anymore… and she can ‘show him some gratitude’.
Bottom line… I think Littlefinger wants Sansa to TREAT him like her aunt Lysa Arryn did (as far as the sex goes)… but WITHOUT all the extremely ‘crazy shit’, erratic behavior & ‘emotional baggage’ that came along with Lysa’s insecurities & jealousy)
I’d bet his ‘perfect woman’ has Sansa looks + Lysa’s Sex drive + Caitlyn’s maturity & demeanor.
Which is all found in that Stark bloodline.
Remember, Lord Peytr Baelish is a TRUE PIMP.
So he prolly trynna ‘bring it out’ of Sansa....… without her even realizing it.

I feel your theory....just gonna be an ass and point out that the bloodline that gets his rocks off is Tully, not Stark.![]()
A minor technicality.
But you get the point.![]()

I think the only thing that will give him pause is the Faith Militant. You can't bargain with them. You can't negotiate. You can't buy them off. Bribe them. I like their introduction because they're such a damn wild card. Only Stannis i think has the strength to deal with them.
I don't understand the issue but I guess people expect this on a virgin's wedding night with a psycho

And not this

This fucked up agreement is more disturbing than that

It's medieval times. Fuck yo comfort. Women enjoying sex is still a new concept.
