Game Of Thrones: The Sopranos with swords or Dynasty in chainmail?

So without going too much into detail, book readers, are you enjoying the deviation from the source material or would you prefer it stick to the books?

these deviations are minor, and since the show runners know how the whole story will end and GRRM consults and writes on the series with them, I'm sure the deviations are part of the setup for the last 2 books

So, how many people could have poisoned Joffrey by now? Or, was Little Finger in cahoots with Granny? Course, everybody should have killed that punk ass muhfuhkah. Looks like the show is purposefully obfuscating the subject of the killer?

Funny, how Alliser is shitting on Jon and yet if it wasn't for Jon about the wildlings, the Night Watch would be unprepared for them...

And how the hell does Jonas Slynt get so much influence....:hmm:

My dumbass watched that whole entire episode and it just dawned on me who old buddy is that just made friends with jon snow is.....:smh:

How he make it to the wall so fast and get put on so easily? Didn't one of the guys call him a ranger when he was checking snow, then snow called him a recruit in the mess hall? I gotta watch this shit again....

I am because personally the deviations are more exciting. They make more sense than the book.

I can't put my finger on Locke and Bolton's end game here. I thought Bolton sent Locke to the wall just to see if Bran and Rickon were there. Once he got there and saw that they weren't there, why didn't he just leave. Locke is joining the watch and taking the oath (which he CLEARLY doesn't plan on keeping) all to set Jon Snow up, but why? What power does Bolton gain by taking out Jon and having his right hand man becoming a oath breaker?

That's what I'm saying!!

It's like he hopped in a car and drove down for a weekend get away.... He got there entirely too fast that's why I didn't recognize him off top.

The show is more exciting than the books at this point. The show is bringing characters together that didn't in the book that should have. In the book it took way longer to trace Joffrey death to Little Finger and the grandmother wasn't so prominent. Props to the show guys for spicing it up.

Bolton sent Locke to the wall to see if Jon Snow knew where Bran and Rickon are. They want them eliminated because they are the next Lords of Winterfield. I think he is just hanging around a bit to see if they turn up or if he runs into them.

Bolton doesn't give a damn about Locke. He wants all Stark blood eliminated. He knows the peoples hearts are with the Starks. Tywin gave him the North but that doesn't stop the people from recognizing the true rulers. He knows that as long as there are Starks alive his rule in the North can never be save. Plus even if he does care about Locke he can get him pardoned by Kings Landing.

You guys are forgetting that Roose sent Locke to the wall in episode 1, this is now episode 4. The little guy whose family got eaten up by the Thenns was at the wall in the same damn episode. The timing is on point. This just tells you just how good this season is so far.

you're right. It just seems like we just saw him. We have to realize that certain characters pop up every other episode

No it didn't. In the book little finger lays it out for sansa about the collaboration in more or less the same way they did on the show.

That's not right. The whole conversation with Theon and the Boltons about Bran and Rickon happened in episode 2. The same episode Joffrey bit the dust.

I must have to go back and read. Because in the book he talks about how knew some men for the pie and doves or something like that.

But still that makes no fucking sense to me. I mean do people WILLINGLY volunteer to go to the wall? Isn't that place for bastards and criminals?

Somebody at castle black is in on this shit with Bolton.

If you're a criminal you not gone just roll up to that joint voluntarily.... Like he went to trial for a crime and they was like OKAY I SENTENCE YOU TO THE WALL. START WALKING NOW, BY YOURSELF WITH NO ONE TO VERIFY YOU'RE ACTUALLY GOING TO THE WALL OR ENSURING YOU GET THERE AND YOU'LL BE THERE IN 2 DAYS :hmm:

grrm do the Stark's dirty. His fat nerd dungeons and dragons playing ass must have been tortured as a child by a family of bullies named Stark. He getting his payback in the mythical realm

Obviously this Locke character is at the wall in "undercover" mode. He's not really there to join the night watch. He probably made up some story about why he is joining and it's not like the Night Watch can afford to spend to much time investigating him. They need everybody they can get.

But this was lazy of the show writers IMO. They should have at least given Dude a minute to explain his cover story.

I don't think anyone on the wall is in on the shit with Bolton and Locke. But if anyone was, my money would be on Jonas Slynt.

And people can volunteer for the wall. Remember Jon chose to go and Sam semi-chose the wall because his father threatened to kill him. My guess is that Locke's goal is to get intel from Jon Snow that will help him find Bran and Rickon. I'm just confused as to what his exit strategy is. Assuming that he successfully gets information from Jon, what does he do next .... just going to walk away? I didn't think leaving the wall and breaking the oath was that easy. Especially since he would have to make it through the North before he'd reach back to the Dreadfort.

For regular people the Nights Watch is for criminals and orphans. For Nobles it's more complicated.

You've got people who like Ned's brother Benjen (from season 1) who probably Volunteered. He's like a 3rd son who is never going to inherit (boy was he wrong) so you take a shot at being a leader or commander beyond the wall.

Lord Commander Moremont volunteered because he was ashamed of what his son (Jorah) did in selling some of his people to slavers.

Then you got losers like Janos Slint who basically just fell out of favor with more important people in Kings Landing. So they get a choice, Take the Black or end up in a gutter in Kings Landing or your head on a pike.

I must have to go back and read. Because in the book he talks about how knew some men for the pie and doves or something like that.

In the book, sansa wears a headdress with jewels, not a necklace and little finger basically says the same thing to her about how the Queen of Thorns ran her fingers through sansa's hair when she greeted her at the feast. It's really not much of a mystery about who done it after that.

I understand what y'all saying about the wall, and I think it was just lazy writing in an otherwise well written show.

Because you guys are mentioning nobles and regular people in Jon snow and fat boy. They chose to go there but they weren't criminals.

I guess I keep thinking of the people going to the wall like they were in that one scene with aria headed to the wall.... A caravan of misfits and losers being transported there somewhat against their will and not just some folks rolling up like HEY I WANNA DO THIS HOOK A BROTHER UP YO!
