Game Of Thrones: The Sopranos with swords or Dynasty in chainmail?

Out of curiosity, why don't people read the books?

i have the audiobooks on my hard drive and the printed books on my tablet and I have resisted reading the books because of the TV show's - Aw Shit moments - like Ned getting his head chopped off - or Jamie getting his hand chopped off - and countless other scenes -

Reading the book will add more depth to the series and the characters but I know that I will miss the Aw Shit moments and that to me is something the show can do that the book cannot reproduce in the same way.

I came across a spoiler that I wish I had not and all season I am looking for the scene and a bit pissed because for many people it will be a major Aw Shit moment but I see it coming and will enjoy it but not the same way

DAMN You Spoilers!!!

Without divulging too much information, I FEEL YOU. I spoiled this same scene for myself accidentally very early on because I was wiki searching the characters involved after season 1. :( I will say (having read the currently released books twice each since that time), that having this spoiled did very little to lessen the impact of actually reading it in the books. The books are just THAT good. The books and show are simultaneously their own separate entities AND ideal complements to each other. They work together to promote the ultimate ASOIAF/ Game of Thrones experience. Also, even though you don't necessarily get the "Aw Shit" moment, you still get the joy (or horror) and exhilaration from seeing the moments played out on the show.

took me mad episodes to realize Tywin was Sardo Numpsa from The Golden Child...

"My dear brother Noompsi has forgiven me!!!"

Between spoilers, waiting a year between seasons, and just plain curiosity/love for the story, why wait for HBO each year when you can go to any of the BGOL threads and either download and read the books or listen to the audio books?

I never even heard of GRRM or Game of Thrones until the HBO show. Shit. I didn't even watch the first episode until a thread popped up on BGOL. I was intrigued by the show after Jamie shoved Bran out the cliff entrance. Once I saw they killed the main character, Ned, I knew I had to read the books since this was a different type of show. What kind of series kills the main character? I read all 5 books in a matter of months.

This is BGOL. You know ninjas are going to intentionally or unintentionally spoil shit. Between the internet and social media, it's almost impossible not to be spoiled. It just makes me wonder, why not go in on the source material since it's readily available?
becasue this is good TV!....has it ever occurred to you that some people just want to enjoy a good tv show with out some asshole coming in this thread fucking it up.?:smh:

me personally i have all the books and I'm reading them after each season is over..

but people come in here and talk about the books just to be dicks about it. If you want people to know you read so bad take your books to a starbucks and read them on the patio for everyone to see...:smh:
