More or less, The whole scence with her walking into the fire and the dragon eggs hatching was more dramatic (i.e. mystical) in the book IMO. Kinda disappointed how they handled that. Maybe budget limitations kicked in.

There's at least one major battle in the second book.

I finally watched it,I agree with you I was hoping they would of showed the meteor....

Did they just go Dungeons & Dragons on us??!! Not sure how I feel about that. Hope this ish doesn't turn into a R-rated Harry Potter.

In the "A Song of Ice and Fire" series always had dragons its just they're off screen....They mentioned dragons in the show a few times dont know how you missed it

Great episode....I may grab a book or two just to get more details. Sansa finally "Starked" up she was ready to throw that punk ass King over the ledge like Bishop in Juice. Is Cersei (the queen) fucking that servant?

The commander at the wall checked Jon Snow..."do you think that war in the south is more important than the one we're fighting up here?"

Danerys is going to run the whole world...she's from Westeros but has grown up across the sea, she has the insight to conquer. Plus with 3 dragon's who's gonna object?

Sean Bean on What’s Next for Game of Thrones

In the space of one week, Sean Bean was beheaded and stabbed. Luckily for him, one of those traumas was fake — even if it did mean the shocking end of his character Ned Stark on Game of Thrones. (Well, shocking for those who hadn’t read the books.) Vulture talked to Bean about losing his head, fans losing their heads, and what he’s doing next. (His bar-fight wound, however, was strictly off limits.)

What do you think about the reaction to your swan-song episode? They’re calling it a game-changer, and it’s already being submitted for the Emmy …

That’s good news! It really sets the standard, which is high already, for what you would expect from HBO. This was a courageous venture to take on in the first place, with such a vast, big-scale production, and this very bold, daring narrative structure. That’s what people admire about it. I think people who weren’t as familiar with the books were shocked. I know I was, when I read the script; then I read the book. It’s a good thing about George R.R. Martin: He’s prepared to kill off the main guys. You don’t get the feeling that the good guy is going to last forever, like James Bond.

Some people are really upset.

I saw this video, these two black guys from L.A., and the older one tells him I died, and the young one is really pissed off that I’m dead! He keeps going, “That can’t be fucking true. He killed off my man!” It’s fantastic. It’s so funny. I can’t stop laughing at that. They’re the last people you would expect to be so pissed off!

What was it like shooting the actual scene where they cut off your head? Obviously, it’s a dummy …

It’s a dummy of my head. I was holding it at one point, which was a really creepy feeling, to hold my head and look at it. It was very heavy, just like a proper head!

Do you think Ned’s death is akin to, say, Gandalf’s or Dumbledore’s? Wizardry aside, the father figure dies off so someone smaller can go on a hero’s journey? In this case, the Stark kids?

Yeah! You start with Ned Stark, Lord of Winterfell, who’s strong when he’s introduced and gets weaker and weaker as he goes along, physically and psychologically, because he’s in this corrupt environment, in this real den of snakes, which gets him in the end, and someone else is going to have to take his place. Once he’s imprisoned, for instance, his son Robb has to take control. Ned was very much needed, and he’s the last person you want to see disappear. He’s a voice of reason.

Why do you think Ned lied, claiming he was planning to steal the throne for his own, when he confessed?

I think it was demanded by the queen. He had to humiliate himself, so there was no doubt left as to his betrayal, which wasn’t really a betrayal. It’s so Draconian — lie, and we’ll let you live on the Wall. And he trusted them for the sake of his children, so even he’s shocked when Joffrey’s going, “The man is a traitor, off with his head!” The deal didn’t pay off. It would have helped if Ned had a little more guile, a little more cynicism, was a little more calculating.

But he is calculating, in at least one matter: Jon Snow’s parentage. When it comes to Jon Snow’s mother, Ned is extremely tight-lipped, save for his one terse comment to King Robert. The fandom is teeming with theories that Jon isn’t Ned’s bastard at all.

That’s another twist [to come]. It’s a great conundrum. Who do you think it is?

My money’s on the mother being Ned’s dead sister and the father being Rhaegar Targaryen. If Ned swore to protect his dead sister’s son from his own best friend, the best way of doing that would have been to claim him as his own and take him in.

Ned really knows who [Jon’s parents are], but he can’t let on. That’s why it’s such a moving moment, those poignant scenes I have with Kit Harington [who plays Jon], because I couldn’t say what I really thought. There are so many things I could have said, because there is a love there between the two of them, but I can’t express it as overtly as I can with the other children, who I can hold and kiss. Even if I were his true father, I can’t talk about it for fear of offending my wife, who’s really bitter about this. So it’s really a cruel situation. Through no fault of his own, Ned took on a lot by taking Jon in.

What was it like to reteam with Kit for Silent Hill: Revelation?

We just finished that a couple weeks ago. It was so strange, seeing him dressed in jeans and a T-shirt on! No beard, no sword! We’re in contemporary times, and we’re both playing Americans, so it’s a total shift from Game of Thrones. He’s a good guy, a lovely guy, and we can look forward to big things from him.

A couple of Thrones folk who die come back to life in various ways, as we’ve seen with the reanimated corpses and other characters to come who manage to defy death. There are fan theories that Ned might as well.

Maybe there’s hope for Ned yet! They can do anything. Anything can happen. It’s a very complex show. Very multilayered. And even the most absurd thing is believable. They’re about to start up again, and I’m feeling a twinge of envy, because the saga gets to go on without me. I’m doing something else now, but sometimes I go, “Aw, shit, bring me back.”

At least they can’t kill you off unexpectedly on Missing [his upcoming ABC mid-season show. Your character’s already dead!

Um, yeah. [Laughs.] It’s got a lot of twists and turns, and people are not like what you think they are. I guess it’s a contemporary Game of Thrones!

Did you sneak anything off the Thrones set to remember the show by?

I didn’t, really. I should have asked for my sword, because I try to keep all my swords — the Sharpe series in the U.K., Macbeth — because it’s always nice to have something as a token. We got tattoos for Lord of the Rings: the number nine, in Elvish. Mine’s on my shoulder. Maybe I should get a Game of Thrones tattoo! A direwolf, across my back!

Wait...what??? :hmm:

I know what vid he talking about but damn.

Season finale was good, but again the book is just so much better! I'll more than likely be done w/ the books by the time season 2 roll around...great series. I really don't like Shae...doesn't know her place...and you'd think Tyrion learned his lesson about putting whores on pedestals given his story...the ending was great w/ Dany of course...this was hinted @ the very 1st ep when she stepped into the scalding hot water and the servant girl told her it was hot but she won't phased by it...I overlooked the importance of that til I read it in the book which kinda focuses slightly more on the incident...I can't say enough about the series (book + show)

:lol::lol: i care about those gifs! ill make that other shit later today.

geoffrey is the epitome of a bitch. like i said if i saw him on the street im liable to just smack him. but now there are dragons and all bets are off, i hope she comes and lets them play with him ripping him to shreds

Wait...what??? :hmm:

i was like wtf too, but this is the case where image is everything
and his ignorance has been tempered knowing black folks are
into fantasy shows also.

e.g. in a thread a few days ago i learned for the first time people
hold house parties to pay rent. i learned its been like that for
decades. but because i never heard or it or know anyone who
did it or attended one i was ignorant of that fact till couple
days ago.

See i thought that when she stepped into the boiling hot water she was just crazy. lol

This episode started off great, but i wasn't really feeling the ending. It felt like....well it didn't feel like a season ender.

Whats everyone's final thoughts of the first season?

What's yall first impression compare how you feel about it now?

Anyone worried about the new characters that's going to be introduce next season.

As for my first impression compare to now,I only knew about the show when the first episode was broadcast so I didnt know what to expect...I thought the first episode was good but wanted to know more about it that's when I downloaded the audio books and got hooked then....This is probably my favorite show now...it was "The Walking Dead".. I think they did a great job portraying the characters and making it match the book for the most part...If I was to give the first season a grade I would give it an "A-"

This better win some type of awards but knowing how television is run I doubt it:smh:

I loved it. It's a favorite now. Everyone in my house loves it. We want to see Tyrion be the Hand. We want to see him go at Cersi. We want to see Dany get an army together. All of that.

We're all cheering for Snow.

I'm wondering..........if Snow DID leave the Wall and went to Rob wwould Rob have killed him?

when the gimp knocked over the cup and checked them on killing ned, classic moment they couldn't say shit
and when his daddy put his faith in him he damn near cried "you're my son" :(:( shit almost made him tear up

Mannnnnnnnnnnnnnn when this happened we thought the same thing. Like awww. And Chelle was like don't fall for it! lmao

:lol::lol: hilarious
im excited for next season im gonna buy the books but im not reading anything cause i want to watch the show fresh every week its on so i'll be leaving this thread once the book spoilers become all the topic of speculation for next season.

what else did u think about the episode?

See i thought that when she stepped into the boiling hot water she was just crazy. lol

This episode started off great, but i wasn't really feeling the ending. It felt like....well it didn't feel like a season ender.

Ya when I first saw that I thought that she was just suicidal given her predicament and that she didn't care about the pain...the finale was a lil lackluster but it ended well...Ned getting beheaded was the climax for the season so the last ep had to kinda wind down and tie up some shit as well as set it up for next season...but ya this is the first ep this season that I won't be rewatching...I watched the last part w/ Dany a couple times then deleted it

I caught the references but the dragons were supposed to be extinct. No one saw them for centuries. They weren't just off-screen.

Zombies, giant insects, giants, and a few other creatures have been mentioned as well. Make no mistake, this show is set heavily in a fantasy world.

Even though it was fucked up,I kinda understand what he's saying..You dont see too many black people get into fantasy/sci fiction stuff..Hell a few of my friends thought I was trying to be white when I told them they should watch "Game of Thrones" around the second episode.

Wasnt complaining thought scene was kinda boring...imo :dunno:

Yeeeeah Leroy this is how i felt. Ned was the climax. This show here felt kind of...i don't lknow....like a throw away?

You know in comics they have the regular issues? And then they have the .1's here lately? Like an extra type story, not really meant to be tacked onto the MAIN story but more of a behind the scenes type.

I would love to know the reasoning behind this shit.

He is foreign isn't he? His views are probably centered around that not many black people probably are into fantasy.

I've met lots of foreign people who are shocked whenever they discover a black person likes something they never associated with 'black'.

My wife told me this and i was like...see i thought the "wall" was just the edge of a glacier, she told me it was built by Giants and magic. I never heard anything about giant insects.

I'm still disappointed about the Dire Wolves still being regular wolf size.

.

Unless they changed their mind they clearly said they were putting the dire wolves in CG for next season to make them bigger

No, Ned WASN'T the climax and wasn't meant the be. The book ended the same way the season ended. Each season, similar to TrueBlood, is based on a whole book/novel.
