The dragons have no influence on magic in the world at large from my understanding. Magic is like a cycle. It comes and goes periodically throughout the ages. It's sort of similar to the chaotic weather patterns of their planet. The planet will have summer like conditions for years and then an endless winter will happen for a couple of years. That is why throughout the last 3 seasons during the royal meetings we hear them discuss how are the food storages going in preparation for the long winter.

It is really hard for me to distinguish between who is the most gifted strategist between Tywin, Varys, and Littlefinger. Tywin tangible power is evident but you will continue to gain further appreciation for Varys and Littlefinger as the seasons continue.

The fact that littlefinger and Varys exist let's me know they aren't playing.
I've come to like the Varys character. at first the presented him as a snake, but as we learned more about him we see he's just a regular smart dude making his way.
He actually cares about the kingdom. which is more than I can say for a lot of folks living in it
Yeah, at the beginning I did not know what to make of Varys either. I thought he was just your run of the mill snake in the grass type too. The same goes for Littlefinger, you can just tell he is one devious motherfucker. Varys saying Littlefinger would satisfied with just being the king of ash let's you know all you need to know about him. Like you said Varys is probably only a handful of people in the entire kingdom that is only interested in its best interests as a whole.
But I get the impression that all three would NEVER go after each other directly and would rather avoid any conflict with each other.
Yea they seem to respect their territories. Till now they haven't really conflicted with each other. But if Littlefinger starts being active in trying to tear the kingdom apart so he can rule. Varys will have to step in and try to stop him. Have to.

Aaah, but that is the beauty of it fam. Tywin, Varys, and Littlefinger don't broadcast their moves and they don't leave any evidence tying them to what ever scheme they are perpetrating.
They skillfully manipulate others into doing their heavy lifting. So by the time the kingdom was already torn apart all the culprit would have to do is ease onto the iron throne because all of the obstacles impeding progress are all obliterated.
