Are smartphone manufacturers finally taking complaints about battery life seriously? A new rumor posted by Dutch website GSM Helpdesk suggests that Samsung is. According to the website’s sources, Samsung is testing out a version of the Note 6 that has a giant 4,000mAh battery, which would be a step up from the Galaxy S7 edge’s 3,600 mAh battery. The website also claims the device will have a 5.8-inch display with a resolution of 1,440 x 2,560 pixels, along with 6GB of RAM and 32GB of internal storage.

But let’s be honest: What’s really intriguing here is the giant battery.

As we mentioned before, the Galaxy S7 edge pushed things forward earlier this yearwith its 3,600mAh battery. HTC’s newest HTC 10 flagship phone features a 3,000 mAh battery, but HTC claims that it’s developed technology that will allow it to last up to two days on a single charge. And last year’s Droid Turbo 2 featured a 3760 mAh battery, although that device was more of a niche device that was an exclusive to Verizon.

So a 4,000mAh battery would really be pushing things forward here, especially when you consider that the Note 5 “only” had a 3,000mAh battery. Does this mean we’ll soon expect all our phones to at least last for two days on a single charge? That would obviously be terrific but we’ll have to wait and see.

If the bootloader is locked, such that you can't root it (like all the current snapdragon 820 devices, incl the S7 and G5), fuck samsung.

That shit better not be $900 either. I skipped the note 5 and s7, Samsung better stop tripping

This used to be me but I haven't bothered rooting or unlocking a phone since like the S3 so it doesn't even bother me anymore. 9 times out of 10 these days, roms all have some kinda malfunctions. And if you trip knox on these phones by unlocking the bootloader most of them won't honor the warranty. I think one thing people choose to ignore, or not care about is the fact that the people that make these roms put all types of spyware in them that could access anything you have on your phone. I don't know why no one ever says anything about it.

Not true about Knox voiding warranty. I'm speaking from experience. .... 3 times..and that spyware shit is also false...and just because you root a phone does not mean you have to put a custom rom on it..

Bham you have no idea what you're talking about. What you say about knox isn't true and those custom roms are peer reviewed so any fuckery going on would have long been discovered

Actually it does depending on your carrier. If you root, they are NOT obligated to honor your warranty. This isn't exactly new either.

Peer reviewed lol. I've been using custom roms since HTC was making windows mobile phones. And, how exactly would these "peers" even know? Ironically, half the roms set off anti virus warnings but no one even questions it lol. My question is, why are people so free to put roms on their phone containing all of their information that are developed by people they have absolutely NO clue about?

At least know what you're talking about. Tripping knox absolutely does void your warranty. Not to mention the fact that rooting kills Samsung Pay. Again, there are side effects of rooting, there always have been. You must be new to rooting or something.

It's not Samsung, it's just AT&T. But with the Android 6, don't think it's really even any more need to root. We shall see... I mostly only use root to use Titanium Backup. Nothing else I can think of to mod anything like CPU or volatage, except things I can live without. This Note 6 will be my next cell, if I don't get something sooner, like the Note 5. Nothing really making me leave Samsung yet. Don't think there's a better made phone out there currently.

(correction): just reading Samsung locked up T-Mo too, damn! Oh well... But like I said Android 6 is so versatile, may not be any more need to root... I just want to get rid of bloatware and they have ways to do that without root.

Android is starting to incorporate all the big features that cooked Roms are known for, into their releases. Soon, there won't be a need for them.

Have you had a rooted phone warrantied? .. No?
Well I have... 3 times, with the knox counter tripped. I've been rooting phones since the HTC Hero. Never any issue of a custom rom containing malacious ware of any type. Could you point me in the direction of someone who has suffered such a fate? ...knox counters cam be reset and rooted phones returned to stock..

On the note 4....will be buying the 6...locked bootloader and all..

Really wish they would bring back one like the note 4 edge. Not the edges like on the S6/S7 but exactly like the 4.

I am replying from my 2014 Note edge. I have had the opportunity to upgrade 4 times in the past two years and refuse to because of the lack of removable battery and memory card. I will pass again this year if they persist with this bs.

I tend to upgrade every other year.

I've had the note 2, 4 and if it's right, I'll continue the trend with the Note 6.

My next jawn. This S6 has a shitty battery life. I want the big jawn again anyways. I use the iphone for most shit anyways but I want it.

I'm considering the 6. I'm on the s7 edge right now but I've been doing some research on Project Fi and I've been tempted to go back to my 6p.

I left the 6s Edge for the Nexus 5x and Project Fi. Phone bill is $44 with the 3gb plan, which is pretty much free for me. My job pays $45 towards my bill.

I had to hunt down my first Note Edge in October 2014. It bricked on me in April of 2015, which was replaced and that one started freezing up on me and randomly restarting every hour about 3 weeks ago. I just replaced it Monday. And I still will keep the Note Edge because it is a great phone, I can remove the battery and I have a 128gb microSD in it.

my note edge is dying, im a try to do a insurance claim on it, i know sprint doesnt sell it anymore, if not they will prob send me the note 5, i ordered the s7 edge fri night, and will get the note 6 when it drops

Waiting on the Note 6 too had the 2 now have the 4 skipped the 5 "no sim card, a none starter for me"

Funny how you mention the knox counter as if it can't be reset back to 0x0 lol. And why do you shit on peer reviews? Most roms are open source and as long as you get them from reputable sources such as the xda-developers forum.....you're fine. Many are the very people who design them.

By your logic, an open source piece of software, such as linux distributions, ain't shit. Because they are also often tweaked and peer reviewed.

You over there acting like rooting your phone and adding a rom is voiding the warranty and there is no coming back....lol

My Zero Lemon battery gave me a 2 day charge on my Note 3.

But the phone was as heavy as a brick tho.

My OPO is still going hard and still shitting on most new phones.

I take my shit off at full charge around 6am, whoop it all day, and still be cool getting in after happy hour.

I didn't even upgrade to the OPT because they took the fast charging away for some reason I couldn't begin to imagine.

I just hope it comes with removable battery and storage!

If it doesn't, I'll keep rolling with my Note 4!
