BREAKING NEWS: Gaddafi 'captured' as rebel forces take control of Sirte

By DAILY MAIL REPORTER
Last updated at 12:19 PM on 20th October 2011

Muammar Gaddafi has been captured by revolutionary forces in Libya, it has been reported today.
Gaddafi and his family have been on the run since Nato and rebel forces started closing the net on Tripoli in mid-August.
The reports of Gaddafi's capture came on the same day that revolutionary forces said that they had taken control of Sirte - the leader's home town.
Initial reports from CNN and the revolutionary council said Gaddafi was in custody, while Al Jazeera reported that a ‘big fish’ had been caught but did not provide a name.
Sky News reported that Gaddafi had been wounded in both legs prior to his capture.

Re: Gaddaffi possibly captured in Sirte, still developing

This is somewhat interesting. Ghaddafi would have been a fool not to have gotten out of that country weeks ago.

I just saw this on the news. :smh:

I'm far from being a supporter of Gaddaffi but anyone looking at this objectively knows this whole Libya conflict is a mess.

What?

I don't support blowing sovereign countries to hell based on lies.

What is wrong with being against that?

They will have him hung by next week.

Re: Gaddaffi possibly captured in Sirte, still developing

They're saying that some overseas outlets are reporting that he's been killed. Shit's all over the map right now.

They've been saying for months he was dead. Most Africans won't be happy until his carcas is being dragged through the streets. Let's wait.

So, will he be tried here, Libya or the Hague?

Cant do it here, the fuckery that would ensue:eek:

I find it interesting that those who think opposite of any particular poster is always brainwashed or falling for lies.

What makes ones truth any more reliable than the others.

What makes the PR from one side any more factual than the others

And when faced with a contrary opinion instead of debating points of view we always have a few who resort to bullshit hyperbole

Fact is Gaddafi is not a black African and has done more to fund genocide and black death than anything done in this recent uprising.

His first intent was to be the leader of the Arab world but couldn't bribe and pay for enough support so he then turned to sub Saharan counties who had dictators who could be bought.

He could care less about anything except his own Ego and power.Gaddafi has supported and funded some of the most brutal regimes on the continent.

Those who think that Africa is some tight knit all loving collection of black peoples are brainwashed. Those who think that only outside forces and influences have caused all that is wrong on that continent are foolish. Every country that has gone to Africa to exploit it's land and resources have been invited in because the various rulers and dictators had a price.

Gaddafi killed as Libya's revolt claims hometown

By Sitaraman Shankar, Rania El Gamal and Tim Gaynor
SIRTE, Libya | Thu Oct 20, 2011 8:24am EDT

(Reuters) - Former Libyan leader Muammar Gaddafi died of wounds suffered on Thursday as fighters battling to complete an eight-month-old uprising against his rule overran his hometown Sirte, Libya's interim rulers said.
His killing, which came swiftly after his capture near Sirte, is the most dramatic single development in the Arab Spring revolts that have unseated rulers in Egypt and Tunisia and threatened the grip on power of the leaders of Syria and Yemen.
"He (Gaddafi) was also hit in his head," National Transitional Council official Abdel Majid Mlegta told Reuters. "There was a lot of firing against his group and he died."
Mlegta told Reuters earlier that Gaddafi, who was in his late 60s, was captured and wounded in both legs at dawn on Thursday as he tried to flee in a convoy which NATO warplanes attacked. He said he had been taken away by an ambulance.
There was no independent confirmation of his remarks.
An anti-Gaddafi fighter said Gaddafi had been found hiding in a hole in the ground and had said "Don't shoot, don't shoot" to the men who grabbed him.
His capture followed within minutes of the fall of Sirte, a development that extinguished the last significant resistance by forces loyal to the deposed leader.
The capture of Sirte and the death of Gaddafi means Libya's ruling NTC should now begin the task of forging a new democratic system which it had said it would get under way after the city, built as a showpiece for Gaddafi's rule, had fallen.
Gaddafi, wanted by the International Criminal Court on charges of ordering the killing of civilians, was toppled by rebel forces on August 23 after 42 years of one-man rule over the oil-producing North African state.
NTC fighters hoisted the red, black and green national flag above a large utilities building in the center of a newly-captured Sirte neighborhood and celebratory gunfire broke out among their ecstatic and relieved comrades.
Hundreds of NTC troops had surrounded the Mediterranean coastal town for weeks in a chaotic struggle that killed and wounded scores of the besieging forces and an unknown number of defenders.
NTC fighters said there were a large number of corpses inside the last redoubts of the Gaddafi troops. It was not immediately possible to verify that information.

Re: Gaddafi Reported killed In His Hometown

I agree and wish anyone who leaves their physical life does the same.

He will be missed.

will be seen. i know Farrakhan will miss his funding as will some dictators but will the he be missed by the masses is the real question.

on a side note

will the NOI have financial problem s now ? I have noticed they are not on Stony as much with the Final Call and the pies

They are not going to capture him and let him live very long. The international courts will never try him.
