Re: What's The Funniest Show on TV Right Now?

i have a couple friends that remind me of Brad & Jane on the show....they aren't a couple just the goofy shit they do  a friend of mine told me that USA may be picking them up which would be great cause regular but well written tv shows like this can't seem to survive on local channels anymore.

i read that ABC was play shows back to back to burn off the remainder of the season then cancel it...TBS MIGHT pick it up:yes:

I hope they get picked up but i have a feeling this show will suffer the same fate as "The Critic":smh:

and the network bloodbath continues!!!

ABC Cancels 'Happy Endings'

ABC has canceled Happy Endings after three seasons. Despite a loyal and vocal following, the Sony Pictures Television comedy will not continue on at the network.

The ensemble comedy was moved in its third season to be part of ABC's Tuesday comedy block, however, the lineup was the first to crumble against similar efforts on Fox and NBC. ABC shifted to reality on Tuesdays and moved Happy Endings to Fridays, where it most recently finished its run with a back-to-back episode burn-off.

STORY: THR's Complete Upfront Scorecard
Its May 3 season finale scored a 0.8 and 0.7 rating among adults 18-49, a modest uptick. Season-to-date it's averaged a 1.5 rating among adults 18-49 in Live+Seven Day returns, posting more DVR growth after moving to the little-watched Friday hour.

Sony TV has committed to shopping the critical darling to cable, with USA Network among those expressing an interest in continuing on with the series, which ABC recently marketed with a "Save Happy Endings" tag line.
"We love those two shows. They're incredibly distinctive, and they’re water-cooler shows," ABC boss Paul Lee said in January, also referring to the now-defunct Don't Trust the B---- in Apt. 23.

Still in Happy Endings' corner is a particularly aggressive studio in Sony TV. The producers previously facilitated the move of struggling Cougar Town from ABC to TBS and have been instrumental in keeping perpetually on-the-bubble Community on NBC.

A midseason entry in 2011, Happy Endings finishes its ABC run having produced 57 episodes. It was created by David Caspe, who serves as co-showrunner with fellow eps Jonathan Groff and, until recently, Josh Bycel. The latter inked an overall deal at NBC/Universal TV in March.

C/S but i'll still watch Modern Family & Suburgatory. ABC cancelled 2 shows that were great, Don't Trust The Bitch was a really good show and now they give the ax to Happy Endings:smh: The shows get decent ratings but ABC wants every show they have to get DWTS ratings and that's just not reasonable.

It’s looking less likely that Happy Endings will live up to its title.

Three weeks after ABC pulled the plug on the beloved (yet under-watched) comedy, sources confirm to TVLine that the show’s Season 4 options are narrowing now that USA Network has passed on picking up the series.

According to Vulture, which first broke the news of the collapse in talks between Happy Endings producer Sony and USA, TBS (which famously rescued Cougar Town from ABC’s scrap heap) and NBC remain in the mix. TVLine’s sister site Deadline, meanwhile, has floated the idea Netflix or Amazon acquiring the show.

A funny original show can't stay on the air, but looking at all the horseshit that is played on TV, which is the reason I stopped watching television is that everything is reality crap, rigged singing shows, unfunny safe comedy, or agenda based "news". There are maybe five television shows I'll download, and this was one of them.

I really hope this show is resurrected somehow. It was really the funniest show on television

:smh::sad:Its official happy endings is no more several tv websites is reporting that sony has stopped shopping the show to different networks.

ABC‘s comedy Happy Endings is not going to live up to its name but has cemented its cult status with an untimely death. I hear series’ leading studio Sony Pictures TV has ended its efforts to find a new home for the underrated series as it faces the expiration of the cast’s options on Monday. Sony did try hard, starting to explore a possible future for Happy Endings well in advance of ABC’s May decision not to order a fourth season. Cable network USA, which is re-entering the half-hour comedy space this fall with off-network acquisition Modern Family, originally expressed interest in early April. It entered talks with Sony immediately after ABC made the cancellation decision the Friday before upfronts but, three weeks later, the network opted not to proceed with the pickup to focus on its original comedy series. While USA was considered the only real play for Happy Endings, Sony TV didn’t give up and continued to search for ways to keep Happy Endings until it ran out of time with the cast options.

After three seasons of low ratings, multiple time slot changes, and that one dark night when ABC crashed into your living room, its hands around Happy Endings’ throat as it screamed, “Don’t make me do it!” while you just sat there, having pledged to no longer get caught up in this exhausting melodrama, Happy Endings is finally dead. Deadline reports that Sony has called off the search for a new, more stable foster home as the cast members’ contracts expired today, officially ending the series.

Though there was a brief glimmer of hope that Happy Endings could follow Cougar Town to the battered sitcom sanctuary of basic cable by landing on the USA Network, ultimately USA—like the U.S.A.—rejected it, deciding it would rather focus on developing its own original shows. It was also no doubt put off by the Happy Endings’ crew’s refusal to consider constructive criticisms like, “Where’s the beach? Where’s the suits? What kind of show is this?”

For those finally allowing themselves to mourn its loss, the Happy Endings writer’s room has been closing up shop by sharing some rejected and unused jokes on Twitter, and reading these may help you remember the good times that you never actually got to have and definitely won't now. You may also take some comfort in knowing that at least Happy Endings is at peace now.

Funniest show on TV. A few of y'all got on this show when I posted this thread. Now it's dead and Sony stopped shopping it. I hate TV. I ABSO-FUCKING-LUTELY hate reality TV and have never watched it outside of 20 minutes TOTAL of American Idol when flipping thru channels on commercials - when I saw a good singer and the next time I flipped thru they were getting voted off in favor of someone who had no talent...I'm done with that garbage. I did watch ESPN's Dream Job, but that's it.

This...Daniels

I hate that it got canceled. I loved watching that foolishness. And the chemistry between the actors was great.

when a network puts a struggling tv on fridays :itsawrap: I was really hoping that TBS pick up happy endings so it would be hopefully be put together with cougar town. I just got through watching season 1 from netflix all the episodes was funny as hell. I think ima go and scoop up the season 1 and 2 dvd sets.

I feel bad for Damon Wayans' son. He was on this show and the New Girl at the same damn time when they premiered.

My guess is he decided to go to Happy Endings instead of the New Girl and they replaced him with the other brotha.

Wrong move because The New Girl is a staple at FOX.

guess its to buying the dvd sets...already got season one. i knew it was a goner when it went to fridays tho

it was only a matter of time.
i guess ABC can go back to shows geared towards middle aged women.

if it werent for Shield i would forget that network all toghter

So glad to see this thread. This show is funny as hell, though I must admit at times it's overscripted....pleasantly overscripted though

gow bigupped himself like 9 times in here for puttin y'all niggas on

Yeah, well, my lil brother put me on. I don't get into TV shows anymore because they get canx too quickly. Halfway thru season 2 he called me and put me on. I went to the torrents, DL'd season 1 and 2 and laughed my ass off. Some corny, but for the most part it was hilarious.

We are all seeking good TV, it doesn't matter where the info comes from, just that we pass it on. I just got onto Jericho and that show has been canx'd for years. I didn't get onto The Wire until 2009 when my coworker Antwan (who was the same dude that put me onto Game of Thrones) told me about it. By then it was off the air.

Great comedic chemistry. Elisha Cuthbert, who knew she was funny? Took me by surprize, especially the Kaizer Soze episode.
