No Bullshit please!! Thnx!

So Full Sail University sounds great! But is it?

Their Site is freakin Marketing Genius http://www.fullsail.edu/

Here is my situation:

Im grown but not really old, married and have a young child.

Im completing my AS in Networking right now. I dont like it.
Im at 1 of the best Community Colleges in the country. It really is a good 1 and many suspect that it will become a University within the next couple years.

I dont like it because aside from Cisco, I havent learned anything hands on, I didnt know already. On top of that, Networking is too dry for me. I need something more creative, more fun.

A mixture of Web-Development/Design and Internet Marketing would be what I like to get into professionally.
Mainstream Universities teach you a lot of stuff that you may or may not use in your life. I'd like to get skilled and go to work!
But that is not a big issue. I'll live.

So anyway, Full Sail has accelerated courses, focused almost exclusively on the program you choose. The price tag is high and the workload
is crazy. I can pay the 60K and I can sacrifice 2 years of basically neglecting my fam a bit, IF - and here's the point of this thread - IF IT IS
WORTH IT!!!!

ANy1 went to Full Sail or knows something about it??? Let loose!!

I am well aware of a lot of folks who went on to bash the school, as well as graduates who say it isn't worth it!
On the other hand, they do have a pretty successful Alumni.

I know, I know! You get as much out of school as u put in it! Spare me! This isnt the same scenario here.

Thanx in advance.

AND IF YOU KNOW OF A GOOD ALTERNATIVE (for me-->PREFERABLY IN THE STATE OF FLORIDA), PLEASE SHARE!

DO NOT GO!
there are far more better and cheaper schools to go to.
i went there and graduated.
if i could turn back the hands of time i would have gone to another school.
i'm not going to get into details because the shit you put up with in there is too long and complex to write.
you have been warned.

Can't you do Web-Development/Design and Internet Marketing at your local Community College ? It should be much cheaper than going to Full Sail. Not to mention transferable credits to a University.

Also Nubian, can you give out a few brief details with your experience with Full Sail ? Cause now you got me curious.

Man i'm from orlando

I got homeboy graduated from there and went back to new york city couldnt get a job:smh::eek:

Basically it a rip-off man, overpriced, and barely accredited

If u in Orlando go to Valencia community college and learn web design and stuff very good progam

If you wanna get more detailed go To UCF university of central florida www.ucf.edu

They have Florida Interactive Academy which full accredited and will teach you the same thing Full sail but a lot cheaper and better www.****.edu

Also dont go International Academy of art and design in orlando they suck also.Or keiser,or ITT tech!!

Stick to STATE SCHOOLS,Accredited schools trust and believe that homie!! it aint worth to go to them private schools

My brother wasn't the "studious" type and I knew college of any kind wasn't in his cards. He wasn't mechanically/labor included either so trade school was out the question.

Black man + High School degree = Generally fucked in American Society.

I didn't want to see him slip through the cracks and know he loved music, so I sent my brother to Full Sail because a lot of the production people I knew when I worked in media spoke highly of it.

He got a degree in Music Recording Arts and Engineering Degree and something else ....

He graduated in 2005 and frankly, it was the worse fucking $30K I ever spent in my life!

He works retail .... The outplacement help program is laughable. Putting Full Sail on his resume for positions he's applied for has done nada goddamn thing.

I should have just encouraged him to go to community college and bought a goddamn new car with my money or pay off my mortgage.

I'd say take a pass on Full Sail.

Again, 2.5 years in school, $40K education, and he's working RETAIL making $15/hr. :smh:

Dude, everybody I work with in the music industry laugh at Full Sail. Every single person I've met in the music industry say that they worked maintenance and apprenticed at a REAL music studio or started a studio in their basement and bought all the equipment on their own and started producing or engineering for people in their neighborhood and moved up due to connections they made.

For music, that shit is a joke.

Now, in other fields, i'd have to imagine have the same kind of results, which is overpriced.

I just got new schedule in the mail and they're talking about $35,000-60,000 for programs that won't help you at all.
