This whole thread brings us to a common question in all competitive venues. At what point do we allow talents like Joe to get props for his work and not allow him to be cast in the shadow of the people that came before him? I mean Jay-Z was spittin mean for awhile b4 BIG died and I bet if we had this conversation people would be saying the same thing about Hov. Things like how dare we compare him to BIG and all this other stuff but I think Joe Buddens body of work speaks for itself. I am drawn to his music for the same reason everybody else is, on the one hand you can say he complains a lot, but his music is accessible on a level most of these artist can't even understand. What makes him any different from Eminem, for instance who spent his first few albums complaining about his mom, and his wife? He was going through shit and was able to convey it through a series of emotions and songs that were entertaining and creative. Now how many artist you know can make songs like 10mins. and All of Me and keep your attention? One song that every doubter needs to listen to is Outcast by Joey that will change your mind. Bottom line I think we need to give props where props are due, and not let these dudes rest on their laurels like that. If consistency is the argument, you need to look at Joe's catalogue, the mood musik series is stellar work and stands the test of time. I meet hiphop heads who give me that look like Joe who? the pump it up dude? but once that mm2 drops and that first track plays they asking for more. To be continued..........

Those that know me I don't take this kinda shit lightly... LoL..

You fucked up on a few levels but...first of all Joe has way better songs than the ones you decided to post and second you ended your post with "2 classics" when Hov has like 50 plus depending on who you ask. I fucks with Joey though so I appreciate the post regardless...

yeah... Royce impressed me on his latest mixtape. Dude was spazzing on those tracks. I still like Joey better for the substance matter... but Royce is on my list of favs right now.

Still... Crooked I is killing 'em both on the two Slaughterhouse tracks that got put out.

This thread is funny:lol:

Ni99as love to defend their rappers.

But I never gave Joe Budden much of a chance outside of the mixtape shit he used to spit back in 02-03, when mixtapes were the Almighty.

I'm sure he hasn't made it to Hov's level though. Ya'll act like American Gangster wasn't a lyrical showcase or something... That was just last year! Some of his most visual rhymes ever!

Direct me to this murder, of which you speak...

JOE BARGIN BITCH BABY MOMMA ON MYSPACE BUDDENS SUBSTANCE GTFOH.

JAY Z HAS METAPHORS,SIMILES ETC CRAZY WORD PLAY. HE'S BEYOND A LOT OF THIS BULLSHIT THAT THE MASSES LOVE. HE'S EVEN DUMBED DOWN HIS LYRICS FOR YOU ALL THE KATS THAT LOVE THAT DRUG HARD LIFE SHIT.

JAY HAS GONE THE FULL SPECTRUM. SIX STAR PENTHOUSE SUITES ETC TO BIGGIE AND JAY GOING AT IT.

GUNS AND ROSES. NOT TOO MANY PEOPLE DO IT LIKE JAY Z. KICKING IT WITH U2'S BONO ETC.

Yeah it's magic
Uhh, Jay-Z and Lenny Kravitz
And it's a Heavy D product you bastards
Come on
Ha hey yo stop playin man
This is real serious
Ha (It's the rock) yeah yo

[Jay-Z]
Post Postatono, Hov' hangin with Bono
You too can live like Salvatore Ferragamo
And you too can cool out poolside after Delano
And you too flow like you was out of your mind yo
And who knew dude who loved apple pies from McDonalds
Would soon be the boss of the Big Apple, ya know
And who knew dude would play ball for the NBA
Would make a mistake on the who know it stayed still in the way
Who knew that would be his last shot, who drew up that play
They giveth and they taketh life is cool that way
But even a broken clock is right two times a day
You could have turned Guns into Roses like two times today
Now there's something you gotta say two times to Jay
I got my shades on waiting for the sun to shine my way
Got my boom box, suntan lotion waiting for action
Its safe when you play with skills, good luck could happen
Let's go

(C'mon) It's the Roc [repeat 4X]
That's right

[Jay-Z]
It got to hot so I jumped off in this rap shit
You got it criss-crossed ain't no turning me backwards
Too many District Attorneys concerned with the actions
Of one individual he's criminally attached
I turned in all my rap chips I'm earning my bachelors
While dating all the models and actresses
I'm learning all the potholes in every single barrio
Trying not to mess up my axis kid
On the road to riches through trafficking
Through rappining whatever's happening
Roc-a-wear I'm the young black Ralph Lauren
Every time I get out they put me right back in
The Michael Corleone of the microphone
The Michelangelo of flow I paint pictures with poems
Have you ever known moss like a rolling stone
Case the Grim Reaper visits my home, nigga I'm gone c'mon
