Thanks for the complement on my site Coolio that is if you were talking about my site. Anyway in did anyone see the today show and the guy in Canada that's making one million a month in google add words from his free dating site. The site was something like another fish or something like that. Good evidence that you can make plenty from a free site.
No prob man. I want to see that clip of that guy though, imma see if I can look it up on youtube or something.

Playas, keep advertising the sites you have everywhere you can. I was shocked to see how many paid my site a visit over the past month, since its inception. Trust me, it starts off slow but it build to the point where people will point and ask questions. Me myself, well I just want to be a celebrity in my church! LOL

yo man this is the second time i signed up for google adsense and i did not even get one email from them saying anything. WTF is up with that?

everybody and their mama got adsense why am i having a hard time getting them to sign me up??? wtf am i doing wrong?

i used one of my sites that i've had hosting on for a minute now.

Goose, what exactly is the problem when you go back to try to log in on the Adsense site?

Also, if ya'll get more than one site, make sure to differentiate your sites so you can get more of the general population's interests. Don't do all music sites or all porn sites, mix that stuff up so you can get the maximum benefit. And if you don't already know you can't put Google AdSense on porn sites. :D

Ok yall don't clown me, I keep reading this post and it keeps going over my head. Can someone recomend a webmaster?! that knows about this stuff and could help me put my blogging site together. I am willing to pay of course.

Looks good. Here's my suggestions

1) Make money off your blog. Since you're using blogger, go to your blogger dashboard and you should see a link re adding adsense to your blog. Follow the steps and get the code for adsense and paste it into your side bar or header--whichever you think looks better

2) Go to Yahoogroups. There's tons of free email clubs that focus on music, post links to your updates there. Work that traffic.

3) Add SOCIABLE (see my post above) links to your site so your users can share your shit easily with friends.

3) Contact the music groups that are listed on your site and ask for a linkback from their site since you wrote about them.

GOOD LOOKING!!!!

yo man

you need to edit the comment box input fields. the background and the font are the same color so when someone is typing in their name you cant read what is being typed in its almost invisible.

im almost 100% sure that's in the CSS file.
the background is yellow and the text looks like its white or another light color which is a bad combination make the text like black or something for the name and email field area.

what plug-in are you using for the comment area smilies?

i need some Wordpress plugins if anyone can help me out. i need a plugin for quicktags for the comment area. i havent found one that's easy to install and use. and they all dont look too appealing either. anyone know where i can get a good quicktag plugin for wordpress?

also, how do i allow automatic posting of comments without having it wait in moderation cue? i just want users to post comment i dont want to approve each comment.

hmmm....yeah the last plugin i need is something like a captcha plugin. i want to have a list of random words that i choose where a user would have to look at the word and type it in in order to post the comment.

i've been looking for those plugins and have not found one that looks good they all have a real corny interface

anyone help me out here

LOL that's funny. Call me what you will, but the fact is that if you can't make money on the net because you are worried about other stealing all the secrets...oh it's so scary they are going to take all the money...Ninja please :smh: sharing some info is not grabbing a cat by the hand and walking em through the entire process. It's giving another brother a chance to get up. That's one of the things that's wrong with brothers. We always think we are going to lose out if we share a little bit.

White folks share the info with other white folks they come across. Ipersonally have been able to build very successful businesses by helping other people with theirs. I think it was Zig Ziglar that said "You can have anything you want, if you help enough other people get what they want"

You can win either way my friend it's just more fun sharing the knowledge.

Ok guys check out my blog. Letting you know about stuff I'm doing to make that paper.

You really do want to moderate those comments man, because they can affect your adsense and what is displayed on your page. Also it can make people not want to come back because they see all that spam and figure you aren't even interested in maintaining your own site.

For the captcha plugins, try this one: http://recaptcha.net/plugins/wordpress/

The other plugin -- for quicktags -- I don't know too much about that. Can you explain what you want to do with it? I did a search and came up with very little.

what i need is like when someone goes to comment they have a quicktag box. like to make the fonts bold, italics, underline, add color to font...etc etc

something like that.

and any other small lil thing to spice up the comment area to make peeps want to comment. i dont need anything crazy that wont even be compatible with browsers. the one plugin that i need to look for is an avatar plugin.

soon as i find out i'll implement it or if there is one that you guys are using holla at me

Never could get AdSense Earnings to work because you need some program call curl, and I am not about to learn yet another programming language!!! But thanks for the other info as well, it should help those aspiring to do this.

When you do the self-install of Wordpress -- especially if it is the first time and you're not really a programmer -- you find that you have to learn a few things, like a lil bit of PHP and how to configure your server. If you have a hosting company, it's fine, but if you are TRULY doing dedicated hosting yourself (which is about 1% of people on here I bet), then that's what you have to learn.

Don't get me wrong, it's not hard to do once you get the hang of it (a lot of trial and error), and I would recommend newbies just use a web host that has these programs installed to make it easier. It's just another option, like taking the stairs versus the elevator to go up two floors. But by all means do not let any of this deter you, we are here to help, especially when you have these types of questions. Keep em comin.

It looks good but you are gonna HAVE to find a way to get more ads up in there because it's too straight-forward. That is, if you want to make any money. But it looks good, and Fab did kill the red team!!!

OK dude, you DROPPING THE BALL!! Yu let SOMEONE ELSE on here post the video of Fabolous that you also have on your site, and now HE is getting the hits!!! C'mon man, you gotta start thinking outside of the box. Hit them with a teaser here, then get them to go to YOUR site for the real deal.

Pay attention and stay sharp. It happens to all of us but try to ALWAYS be the first. The moment new content comes out and it looks cool enough to inlcude on your site, post about it here in a brand new post.

Post in question: http://198.65.131.81/board/showthread.php?t=182494

Get ya hustle on man!!!

Thanks to the info in this thread I started my first blog. I made a music blog cause I think that'll be the easiest to update without much effort. I used Blogger cause I want to get the hang of things first before I get my own server. Still waiting for my CJ approval.
If anybody is interested in a link exchange, then pm me.

yo fam. last piece of the puzzle for me.

besides throwing an index file in each directory...what other precautions can i take to deny access to directories?

i know there is no full proof way but i need some power moves to at least deter most people

help me out here. i have a small but full website waiting on the adsense now to kick in. i havent found a solution that works

greygoose said:
i also need some scrtips to deter hotlinking. anyone have something that works?
Access to directories...the server should do that for you. What server are you using?

And what do you mean by deterring hotlinking?
