What is Free Comic Book Day?

Free Comic Book Day is a single day - the first Saturday in May each year - when participating comic book shops across North America and around the world give away comic books absolutely FREE* to anyone who comes into their stores. *Check with your local shop for their participation and rules.

I went and copped a few free mags since I was pretty close to a shop already.
Don't expect to get the latest greatest or rare back issues, theres only a small selection. check that site for the issues that are free. I got about 6 that were on the list, plus the guys at the shop had alotta other stuff they were giving away too, so it was worth the gas.

This Saturday is free comic book day and there is a small comic book convention. Below is a link to the free comic book day...it's safe to say that all stores in NYC will be having this event. You go in and get a free bag of books, posters and other media/toys that have been provided by different companies showing you their different comic lines.

Some stores also give a couple of issues from their back stock.

For those of us with children I highly suggest you go through the material before handing it off to your children as some books will be geared toward adults!
