I have an amazing memory of Franky Beverly and Maze closing out one of the nights at the Essence Music Awards and the entire superdome doing the electric slide to his music.
Frankie's voice is a part of all our lives.
I used to walk to school, with my Sony Walkman on my hip and my headphones on, playing 'Before I let go" over and over. Later in 1985 we were all dancing to "Twilight" and rare grooving to "Happy Feelings" and "We are one". Whole families shared a Maze album, their music was the glue that made young and old become one. I can only say thank you for blessing us with your voice, Frankie Beverley, and for sharing your soul.
Rest in Peace Sir, rest assured the music lives on forever.
