Former heavyweight boxer Ken Norton Sr. dies at 70

I met him when I was a kid as one of the celebrities that Nichols department stores had meet and greets for. Dude's fist was bigger than my water head.

R.I.P. Ken Norton

The fight he had with Larry Holmes for his title was a boxing classic. It took every thing Holmes had to win that fight.

Damn those were the days, no boxing clinic, just pure boxing :)
I miss those days.

R.I.P. Brother

'senior'?

naw, dog. :smh:

shit threw me off.

there's only one ken norton. period.

i never heard of his son.

:(

A true great and all class in and out of the ring. He sparred with Joe Frazier and was trained by Eddie Futch.

Omly George Foreman had his number in his prime. Gave all HW's trouble including the incomprable Ali.

RIP Champ

His son was a helluva linebacker with the cowboys too

to things though

who the fuck is Leonard Spinks ?

also Ali showed some shit in that first fight finishing a fight that he had his jaw broken in the second round ..

i love that i grew up before PPV.....we used to see fights like this on Sunday afternoon...

THAT is what I am saying. Ali was a badass to fight with a broken jaw for 10 rounds! Ali faked out Norton in fight 3. He danced for 8 rounds and rope a dope for 7 rounds. I remember watching that live. Ali knew how to play the point system. Just like Mayweather. This is NOT FIGHTING. It is BOXING.

The only thing people need to know about Ken Norton Sr is that he broke The Louisville Lip's" jaw. Nuff freaking said.

That dude had that cross armed defense that gave other fighters the flux...Couldn't penetrate that defense with any consistency.

And dude was built like a truck.....

Definitely a part of the golden era of heavyweights...

R.I.P to Ken Norton a great heavyweight boxer,
only the second man to defeat Muhammad Ali at his peak
and who gave memorable performances in films like Drum and
Mandingo

Ok, I have seen him before and don't remember his musculature having that type of density and definition.

With that physique, he should have beat the sh!t outta Ali!

Man...a legend my dad used to talk about a lot.

May he rest in peace and my heart goes out to his sons.

Boxing is a science it has more to do with your knowledge, conditioning and ability than muscles. Ken Norton was one of Ali's toughest opponents. I would actually place Norton above Forman as far Ali's toughest opponents.

I used to have the Ken Norton and Ali action figures. Later on, I learned just how monumental those fights were. R.I.P. Ken.

You've made an impact on the world in your own way...
