Forgotten Rap Artists

This is a great thread ... bringing some good memories. I forgot all about Honeydips In Gotham from Boogiemonsters.

I need help on a song I heard in a mix the other day. It went off before I could Shazam going. I think it was from a Southern artist/group from early to mid 90s. The opening verse start off like (paraphrasing) "In 1971 I was born to save rap music, the people over the music are losing it" something along those lines. It has been driving me crazy trying to find it.

the girl on this track is nitty Scott mc. She was a pretty Puerto Rican and a nice lyricist. I remember first hearing this back in 2011 on direct TV rap station. It's a shame her career didn't take because lyricism took a back seat to nika Minaj and that white clone astralian chick was on the scene giving rise to the fhig era.
