A diffdrent world was first if anything spike stole the cast from the shiw because every body was in school daze except sinbad
It was something corporations were pushing hard to distract workers from fighting for higher wages, better trade deals, chase after some dream job they got from a college degree. Cosby, Spike Lee, and others in the black community pushed this out on behalf of companies and were well compensated.
This ad from Amazon is a perfect example, do you think you will strike if you are getting a college degree? Because we were kept out of many white collar jobs, blacks were the driving force behind many union drives. When they made white collar jobs available, we stop fighting for higher wages.
Unionization rates plummeted and wages declined because people pursued some fantasy job that you held for two years than got fired for a bullshit reason.
Hey Theo Huxtable, why don't you unionize your employer and get paid a higher wage? Theo, you can become politically active, and revise trade deals that favor corporations at the expense of workers.

When i was in college, spike came to a nearby PWI to give a speech [I attended an HBCU].
In front of an audience of mostly confused white folks, he went in on the black community
in a version of a 'pound cake speech'. Turns out it was all b/c he was hurt that black people
didnt like the movie bamboozled.

Memphis Sanitation Workers' Strike
I was just thinking about MLK in another thread, he was helping black sanitation workers organize when he was killed. It is an affront to his legacy to push this garbage. In Memphis, TN, you was a bellhop or performed some other menial job for whites. You definitely weren't in the office making five figures, so striking for higher pay as a trash worker was the only way to live better.
Getting an education is one of many tools that we need to use to boost our living standards. When it is used in this deceptive manner, I find it offensive. These workers and their skills are needed, it is their job is being performed in other Communist countries building phones or other products. Automation may eliminate with some jobs, but new products come up that will need a human to be involved performing a repeating task; destruction-creation.
