It was only 1,324 but your point is correct on the bashing Obama is justified. Obama helped the living. To pardon Johnson is only symbolic at best. The possiblity exist to help Trump`s image with black people so he`ll probably do it but only for PR.
However this bashing of Obama needs to stop now. Especially since so many failed to support the man after he was elected.
Losing control of both houses of Congress was the failure of the democratic voters. We do record numbers when Obama was running. Then do a Houdini giving the man no support. No focus of the "big picture."

I see both sides of this argument but this is where I land too. I can almost see folks giving Obama shit if he'd done this anyways... dismissing him even more for being too symbolically focused and not creating "real change".

I get what you're saying, but note I didn't say anything about running out of time. You manage your time and your resources.
By appearances, Obama chose to focus on drug offenders he felt were wrongly sentenced, and made that his focus. Had he focused on something else, anything else, that would have became the bone that all of his opponents stayed on, and focus would be lost. Hell, right now, the only reason we're even discussing the people he did pardon is because we got into a conversation about who he didn't pardon.
But again, I get what you're saying. A little more symbolism would've worked for you (and probably a good many other people, too). I have no issue with that specifically.
jack johnson being pardoned posthumously is not a live saving gesture...horrible analogy...stick to the gifs...if my neighbor’s ancestors burned down my great grandfather’s house and my neighbor admitted it was wrong of his ancestors to do so while still flying a confederate flag on his porch...I’d be inclined not to give a fuck about his apology
How much resources could it have taken to pardon Johnson and Garvey? They've been dead for decades, hell most of the people from that time are dead. Yes it might not have meant much in the grand scheme of things. But it would have been an awesome footnote to have the 1st black President pardon those two men. Just my opinion.
