I know this has been covered before but I think I need to change how I moisturize my hair.

Currently I use a mixture of glycerin and a leave in hair conditioner, generally Humectress and Silicon Mix.

What are you ladies using to ensure your natural hair maintains moisture?

Weekly I use 3 different conditioners mixed together. I recently switched out of the Mizani line completely and use the blue Sunsilk conditioner for Anti-Poof instead. Also I use Suave & Cantu, but I'm not stuck on those brands. I put on a shower cap and do chores for at least an hour before washing it out.

Once a month I use a protein or cholesterol conditioner with the other 3.

Daily I use either pink oil moisturizer lotion or a cream hairdress. I'm using Optimum dry hair healer right now.

As needed for my scalp I use this Isoplus Natural Remedy Tea tree & aloe treatment that I bought in Little Rock or some tea tree oil. The Isoplus is fabulous! There's the oil & the spray.

^^^I use Isoplus hair sheen too:yes:It's not too greasy, or smelly and it does the job right ... I also use Salon Finish hair conditioner ... it's a leave in one but I keep it in for 10 minutes then wash some of it out and leave a little bit in ... also I don't put many things in my hair ... I find it grows better when I just leave it alone

Yeah me too- Paul Mitchell is ok, but I use a little jojoba oil once a week and basically keep the heat off it except for the rare occasion and its fine. Also, sometimes that dryness comes from too much protein conditioning OR too many oil based products. Clarifying with some ACV and water is helpful :)

I aint a girl...but this right here does the trick for my naps:yes::yes: ..keeps the hair moisturized thru out the whole day....and for the fellas if you brush your hair right with this you may get some waves

Try SheaMoisture-leave in conditioner- it is quite popular among naturals you can get from treasured locks.com. I love it. Many use TIGI Moisture Maniac conditioner as a leave in- it's really good as well. Also try to not shampoo as much and stay away from silicones (dimethicone, trimethicone etc.), sulfates and mineral oils. They clog pores and stop the hair from receiving moisture. Instead of using shampoo you can use baking soda and warm water to cleanse the scalp without stripping it of its moisture.

You can also do hot oil treaments with jojoba, olive oil, etc. You can go to motowngirl.com for a list of oils and what each one provides as well as homemade moisturizing/conditioning recipes.

I presented have my natural hair twisted (no longer locking it). I condition with Joico Daily lite conditioner then apply Carol's Daughter Leave in conditioner (black Vanilla). To moisturize i use IC instant oil moisturizer lotion. I am happy with the results.

BTW Has anyone used Miss Jessy's hair products? Is it any good?

MTL I haven't but reviews are mixed, but some people really LOVE it and are willing to pay top dollar for it.

See the reviews here www.nappturality.com. If you don't have an account, go head and sign up. There's a TON of interesting information and home hair care tips for natural sistas. There's some bullshit too (just like bgol ) but overall a nice site and those women have tried EVERYTHING.They post a lot of hair pics so you can find someone with a hair type like yours and see how the products worked for her.

For those that know, up until last week, I had a head full of natural curls (and the ladies loved them). I got compliments and asked all the time "What do you put in your hair?" I used Luster's Pink Oil Conditioner. Shit was gravy. Shampoo and Condition my hair everyday and, while still damp, put some in my hair. Natural shine ALL DAY LONG and it didn't sweat out in the Texas heat. I miss my hair. :(

To balance out the slight :smh: of this post.

LD sounds like you had the same hair as my dad. He loved Pink Oil. He used mine once when I was with him and he always asked me to bring him some/buy him some more. :)

CD's Hair milk is nice, but I find her new formulas arent quite the same as the old stuff.

I think I'm going to try the products MTL and Intelligent Dyme suggested. Thanks very much guys.

I just posted something about Miss Jessie's hair care in another thread today. I haven't used it but when I do go natural, that is what I will be using. My sister uses it on my nieces natural curls, it is probably the best natural hair care line I've seen. Every natural haired person I know uses it and swears by it. Check there site out: www.missjessies.com
