I started with cigs because a friend told me smoking one after smoking weed made you feel higher.
As a non-cigarette smoker, it enhanced it for me. After a while, though, it was the opposite and it just dampens the high.
Got out of hand for me at one of those horrible "on the phone" jobs where you get hung up on hundreds of times and have nothing to do on your 15 minute break but smoke a cigarette.
Don't smoke cigs much, probably average 3-4 a day, but it's not everyday. Going in the wrong direction with that shit and scaling back, but it actually seems harder than quitting weed, though it's nowhere near as rewarding.
This is a Great thread..props to all who have or is trying to quit....motivating me to wake the fukk up and throw this Mild in the trash! I started smoking while working in W. Africa in the Peace Corps. Crazy how they market cigarettes in the third world. Nicest cars / motorcycles in country belong to the cigarette reps.
Smoked for about 10 years. Work in IT - and whenever stressed - would go outside and light up.
Stopped cold turkey about a year ago. My smoking buddy at work quit. My son was fussing at me all the time about it. And I was training for a marathon.
Haven't smoked since March 2008 - but it calls to me every time I see a cigarette and I'm stressed. You can't give in to it - even once. It don't ever let go.
