I hear ya. I do.
BUT...you don't get put on death row for bank robbery.
In a country with this many guns and hot tempers, it would take some severity to send the message home clearly and with no questions.
For those people who commit heinous crimes - killing children and pregnant mothers and shit like that - they need a public execution. People need to know this is their fate. Then burn the bodies immediately afterwards.
Ashes to ashes; dust to dust. Fuck 'em.
This shit WORKS in other countries. The west is full of liberal ideologies when it comes to discipline that sound good on a talk show but don't work. In just two short generations, we have seen what abstaining from ass whoopings has devolved our society into.
In two short generations the crime rate has dropped considerably despite the country being more armed than ever before.
The reason, in my experience, is that once a person reaches a certain age they realize that jail sucks and they do what they can not to go back. That's why practically all the boomers who were knuckleheads in the 1980s went legit around age 30. In 2020 there's simply not enough young people to keep shit going at that same level.
I say this because when the crack epidemic exploded in Canada the sentencing laws stayed pretty much the same. Yet they had the same drop in crime that the US had. That suggests that harsh punishments and mass incarcerations aren't really necessary.
In fact, I'd go so far as to say that unless a person commits multiple rapes or murder nobody should have a sentence longer than 15 years.
