Fifty-six days out from the inauguration of President-elect Joe Biden, Donald Trump’s Department of Justice announced that it will do something unprecedented: execute people on federal death row during the transition period. There are five executions scheduled before the January 20 inauguration, including one just five days before Biden is sworn in.

The DOJ, under General Attorney William Barr, ended a 17-year pause on federal executions when they resumed them last summer. In a statement released Friday, the DOJ described the upcoming executions as being for people who committed “staggeringly brutal murders.” Barr’s DOJ has already executed eight people this year, despite many states pausing due to the coronavirus pandemic. But, if these five go forward, it would mean the DOJ under Trump and Barr will have executed 13 people in just six months, which is a huge shift for federal executions that had been quite rare until last year.

I have a question, late so I didn't read but are any of the five people he is intending on killing have prosecutions that are in anyway in question?

Now, I don't trust Trump worth a shit, and it's fucked up that he's killing five black people but did these motherfuckers commit brutal ass murders as he is stating?

Even if all five of these black people are guilty as fuck, Trump is showing exactly who we all knew he was by killing five black criminals exactly the way he wanted to kill the Central Park five
 
Yeah, since day one, Trump has perverted this country, rules and laws and all kinds of shit. This death penalty thing is no different, it's fucked out how he gonna go about it BUT at the time, read the stories about the killings the inmates committed and then lets have this same conversation. I read about their killings and don't give a fuck if, when and how they die... shit is too many levels of fucked up for me lose some sleep about it. just saying.

They gang raped her in a hotel for 2 days, before they doused her w gas and buried her alive.

I dont support the death penalty at all, but i wont lose sleep over that case either. I’ll have to read the remaining 4. I thought one was a white chick, but may be wrong.
 
We can all agree that some of the acts of these men on death row deserve the worst punishment. If they're truly guilty. However, the OP pointed out that they are all black. I can't imagine that there aren't other convicts of different ethnicities warranting the death penalty. It's that he chose five or more black men. In addition, what's the rush. He's fucking blood thirsty and also bitter about his loss. The man's an animal and the only worse people are those that are still cheering him on.

While I'm disgusted with the racist president, there's only so much justice I can wish onto a guilty convict over a heinous crime.
Especially as the consequences double due to skin color. So, yeah, if guilty as charged, it's whatever.

Dunno why they have em on death row for so long. Mufuckas committed some very heinous crimes. When people mistreat children and a thread is posted about it .....we all holla...."kill that nigga".

People don't understand unless they are made to understand.
The reason crime in places like China are so low is because the severity of the punishment is understood.
Stop giving these bastards a lifetime vacation and instead of having death row, have death WEEK, where all of the beds get cleared out and violent crimes will drop substantially.
Nothing would make someone think twice faster than KNOWING they are going to die if they do fucked up shit.

Its like when Amazon fires their bottom 1.5% every year.
People bust their asses not to be in that bottom percentage.

The details of the cases are pretty fucking foul though. I am not for the death penalty under a racist judicial system, but got damn burning motherfuckers, killing pregnant mothers :eek:

Montgomery was convicted of killing 23-year-old Bobbie Jo Stinnett in the northwest Missouri town of Skidmore in December 2004. She used a rope to strangle Stinnett, who was eight months pregnant, and then a kitchen knife to cut the baby girl from the womb, authorities said.
Prosecutors said Montgomery removed the baby from Stinnett’s body, took the child with her, and attempted to pass the girl off as her own.

The punishments don't have to be severe. Just consistent.

Criminals are a lot less likely to break the law if they know how much of their freedom they are going to lose if they get caught. At that point it becomes a risk/reward analysis. Same as any other business would have. At the very least it would cause them to alter their plans to put the odds more in their favor.

For instance, suppose you and I decided to rob a bank. If we know that bank robbery carries an automatic 10-year sentence and brandishing a firearm carries an automatic 3-year sentence then the next question is "how likely are we to get shot at?" If the odds are slim to none then we can we leave the guns at home and slip the teller a note instead.

The way things are now it makes far more sense to say "let's bring our guns and retain a great lawyer who can turn a 13-year sentence into an 8-year sentence". By doing so we greatly increased the risk that someone will get shot.

Skidmore MO is nuttier than a Maine Town in a Stephen King novel. This is where a man was executed in broad daylight when multiple witnesses back in the 80's. But everybody said I aint seen it. Just like years before when a young teacher was found killed and the black janitor was blamed.
In true spectacle form a hole was cut into the roof of the school, the janitor lynched from the overhanging tree limb and the school set on fire. Again, just the victim: Skidmore was blameless.

BUT...you don't get put on death row for bank robbery.
In a country with this many guns and hot tempers, it would take some severity to send the message home clearly and with no questions.
For those people who commit heinous crimes - killing children and pregnant mothers and shit like that - they need a public execution. People need to know this is their fate. Then burn the bodies immediately afterwards.
