For fevers: are hot or cold liquids recommended?

Not freezing cold.

You need to have some OJ and soup.

But hot tea works too. If it's citrus flavored, even better.

Hope you feel better.

I'm shaking like crazy......

:smh:

Picked up some cold here in NY and its freezing........

Thanks

Good advice from fem

Warm but not too hot water with lemon...and on the off chance you have some lotus root cooked down in water and strained is good too.
Drink the water you cooked it in.

Feel better.

Very warm green tea with honey and lemons worked for me.

+

Warm orange juice with vitamin C & E

lots of water (room temperature)

I'll tell you what.

Some overproof rum mixed with Theraflu will knock that bad boy right out.

Kaya, what is your temp or have you checked it? You may need to go to the ER if it's too high.

Just flew here last week and i'm in a hotel all alone......:smh::smh::smh:

Feels like ague or something. I took what I had, tynenol but it is yet to kick in.

I have some tea though, will try that.

I recuperated today and went outside a couple of hours ago and the fever kicked back in.

I have no thermometer though :(

I was wondering if I drink hot liquids, wouldn't it elevate my temp even more

:confused::confused::confused:

thanks all

shaking is almost over but the fever is still here.

still fighting

just kicked mine after 7 days.....

drink it as hot as possible, with some comtrex and a spoonfull of coughsyrup(you won't O D).....get an extra blanket and sweat it out....when you wake up a few hours later(it's hard to sleep while sweating so much), change clothes and repeat...hopefully it won't be as long as mine but 5-7 days seems to be the norm...

get well

:dance::dance::dance::dance:

nice breeze blowing out of the north, no humidity, and not a cloud in the sky today in NOLA.

temperature 75 F... niccas riding their motorcycles with shorts on, bbq-ing, washing their cars, etc.

btw, remember the saying, "starve a fever and feed a cold." the best thing you can do if you're sick is to pop an ester C vitamin C tab, eat some soup, and sit in a very, very, very hot bath.

I just got over the full blown flu in NY

the doc said its the worse its been in over a decade

it really doesnt matter what kind of liquids you drink

just stay hydrated and keep some tylenol in you

youre done for the week

i hope you didnt have anything planned

I'm dying here..............:(:(:(

Sorry to hear about this Ahk. Fever of course is your bodies immune response to bacterial or viral infection. Unless the fever is abnormally high it is best not to interfere with the bodies immune response by trying to artificially bring the fever down. Cold liquids would not be advisable, but do drink fluids - the true danger of high fever is dehydration so room temp liquid and warm tea is good. You need to make sure you stay warmly dressed - loss of heat by removing clothing will simply result in your temperature going up higher to compensate. Of course if you can get some remedies like echineacia and apis belladona are good for infection with fever. Garlic is also an excellent and natural anti-biotic.

Stay up and feel better soldier. ;)

The flu has hit the East coast really bad. Whenever you see tempetures rise in the winter, look out.

The best thing you can do is sip on fluids so that you can pass the germ as soon as possible through your waste.

You might have to hit up a grocery that delivers because room service is going to sky rocket the bill.

One thing that always works well with the flu is an over the counter drug call occissilium (sic). The usually have 3 little containers and you sit it underneath your tongue and let it disolve.

Second, this little homemade remedy will help destroy most common pathogenes that try to KEEP-A-BROTHA-DOWN.

3 cloves of garlic smash and let it sit for 7 minutes. The allicin will build up in the garlic which will make it an antibiotic. Listen and learn.

Get some onions, jalenpenos, red cyan pepper, celery, a strip of bacon, some dice tomatoes, a little can of tomato paste, and 3 cans of chicken stalk. And a chicke brest and leg quater.

Bake the leg or you can substitute fish. Bake it for about 50 minutes.

dice all your prep items I mentioned before. let that strip of bacon cook to give this stew some kick. cut up the bacon strip too.

Add the oinions, then the celery, then the jalenpeno (Your neighbors and pets are going to start smelling it so expect bumps against your walls if your a city dweller)
Add the garlic last with watever else you like.

Deglaze it when all your prep items are done with some hennesy or wine or whateva,

Add those dice tomatoes and paste then the stalk with 2 cups of water and another shot of whateva.

Pull that chicken out, cut it up a bit, and let it stew on low for a hour or so.

Thats gonna be your meal for a couple of days along with all the juice and tea you can drink.

Since your ina hotel, you might have to explaine the situation to the head chef and he should know how to get you better.

The secret is to put this in your diet about once a week and you want catch the flu bug when its going strong.

Remember tha fresh garlic was once used by doctors as an antibiotic. Throw some Tyme in that stew.

Don't forget peppermint tea
