I dropped out of college to go to Fire Academy.I've been a firefighter for close to a decade and making 150K this year which is twice what my highest paid college homie makes.Not saying a degree is a waste,but people have to realize that it is a tool and not a magic wand.
Why do blacks say degrees are not shit? With AA and so many Black scholarships you rarely have to pay full price at a Tier 1 public school if your grades are solid. Also look at the financial situations Africans, Indians and Asians are in and look at the situation where blacks are in.
How many businesses are black owned in the hood? Barbershops and Churches pretty much it. Cats always talk about hustling..hustling what? Selling phones? Drugs?
Only about 35% of black males that go to college graduate within 6 years or less.

Nobody is clowning college. I just hate when square blacks think having a degree is the end all and be all.
Its more to that. Your never going to see a million dollars by just working for someone.
Nobody is saying having a degree is the end all and be all but it is a start and one can learn a lot of things. Also a degree helps teach things that can be beneficial to an entrepreneur. The question was for college haters on why is college put down so much?
Asians don't do it and yet the own plenty of businesses as well as the Indians.
And very few people make millions of dollars most blacks make about 30k so 40-50k is a good bump. And going to a school like Harvard gives you the connections to make earning those millions easier.

I don't know about that bruh... it's been my experience that those with degrees are at times more condescending toward those without than the inverse as though the degree itself is the end all be all. I constantly say that a formal education will make you a living but self education will make you a fortune.
I have been out of the corporate world and started my own business. A degree is simply teaching you to work for someone else. College is another way for the government to keep you in debt and a slave to the system. You spend 5000 a semester just to have someone tell you to read a book. You can get the same book and information for far less. A person spends $40,000 with no guarantee of income after receiving a degree.You're sounding like a middle school dropout homes...

he didn't go to school
i learned more from him then any professor
that being said
every one should go to school
you can say what ever you want, but there is NO or very little opertunity for a black man if he dosn't have an education, even if when you finish school you make a little more then the average its still better then beating yourself to death trying to move up in this world

I can't tell you how many Asian and White cats that come to my job desperately looking for work but when you look at their resumes these dudes graduated from schools like NYU, Baruch and Hunter. You'd be surprised what they do as a side hustle just to eat..shit is fucking sad. How the fuck you live in NYC and not know one person that you can hit up for an intership is beyond me.

I got the management position 2yrs after being on the job. It took a little hustle but from what I've seen from people who have degrees not nearly as long. I have people working for me with degrees.
