What the hell is “All Dressed?” All Dressed (sometimes “All Dressed Up”) is a wildly popular flavor of potato chip in Canada. According to our friends at UrbanDictionary.com, All Dressed chips are:

“Chips topped with a bunch of flavorful ingredients that no one can really distinguish. We know for sure that there is definitely some vinegar and a pepper in there, because it has a picture of it on the bag.”

More reliable sources tell me that All Dressed chips are often a mixture of ketchup, barbecue sauce, sour cream & onion, salt, & vinegar. If true, I feel like I can really relate to this flavor. When I get “all dressed up” for fancy social events, I am usually covered in all of those things by the end of the night.

I was excited to try Ruffles All Dressed chips because I had heard about their success in Canada, the kind of information only someone who co-founded a junk food blog would know. Ruffles recently announced that All Dressed chips would be migrating to the States from Canada for a limited time only. Nobody cared but me. Though they were a bitch to track down, I made it a priority. I really, really, really need to reconsider all of my life priorities, as this blog generates no revenue, consumes a ton of my energy and money, and is sure to make me fat.

Ruffles All Dressed chips are a real mind trip. Let’s start with what’s certain. Definite potato flavor to these chips. The ingredient list confirms that “potatoes” are the primary ingredient. Everything else after that is up for debate. These chips lead with a tangy and savory flavor more often than not. Mostly vinegar and tomatoes, so ketchup makes sense. Barbecue too. What the hell am I eating?

There’s a creamy, garlicky element underlying all of this. The ratios seems to change with each chip. I’m so confused, but these chips sure go down easy. The flavors, whatever they are, work well together and I guess I really enjoy them because I haven’t stopped eating them. They’re just so difficult to review because all the flavors blend together. I’m supposed to be better than this…

All dressed chips really taste like a mix between barbeque and Salt and Vinegar. I like them, however, those O'Gradys were the absolute best. I wish they would bring dem shits back!
