The hits keep coming for Flint's housing market.
The Michigan city that sits roughly 60 miles north of Detroit is currently under a state of emergency after it was discovered that residents were exposed to unsafe levels of lead from the city's water system.
And the fallout is starting to hurtits already-bruised real estate market.
The 2008 housing crash that sent the nation's economy into a tailspin hit Flint particularly hard.
"They lost about 75% of real estate [value] in the city of Flint," said Rob Moen, an associate broker at Berkshire Hathaway HomeServices. "Homes today are selling for maybe 50% of what they were selling for in 2005."
Flint hasn't experienced a price rebound like other markets have in the past few years, and many residents remain underwater.

"I can't trust them because to me they knew what was going on," said Gerry Woodberry, 50, of losing his trust in government after the Flint water crisis. "A little shortcut to save them money, while you're destroying people's lives... I can't regain my trust. I really can't. I feel like this situation with me trying to get help, they don't really care, they just don't care. It's not them that's affected, so why should they care. That's how I feel." Woodberry who deals with the effects of lichen planus, a disease that causes the body to mistakenly attack its own skin cells, said his condition has been made worse by the water situation to the point where his skin aches at times. "Before this water changed, when I would take my showers, it would soothe my skin," he said. "When I get out now, it's the total opposite. It's like I'm very irritated, like I'm very dry. It's constantly hurting. Some days I can't even put my socks on or my shoes."

The Environmental Protection Agency announced Friday that it has awarded Michigan $100 million to make upgrades to Flint's drinking water system, which became contaminated with lead and other toxins after the city switched water sources as a cost-cutting measure.
Last May, former President Barack Obama pressed Congress for emergency funds for the city, which included the $100 million to repair Flint's water system. In December, Congress passed water infrastructure legislation to provide the money, which Obama promptly signed.
The funds will allow Flint to accelerate and expand its work to replace lead service lines and make other critical infrastructure improvements.
EPA Administrator Scott Pruitt applauded the move Friday.
"The people of Flint and all Americans deserve a more responsive federal government," Pruitt said in a statement. "EPA will especially focus on helping Michigan improve Flint's water infrastructure as part of our larger goal of improving America's water infrastructure."
Michigan Gov. Rick Snyder expressed appreciation for the money in the statement Friday.
"Combined with the nearly $250 million in state funding already allocated, this will help keep Flint on a solid path forward," the Republican governor said. "It's great to see federal, state and local partners continuing to work together to help with infrastructure upgrades and pipe replacements for the people of Flint."
Flint Mayor Karen Weaver said in the statement that she was grateful as well: "The City of Flint being awarded a grant of this magnitude in such a critical time of need will be a huge benefit."

Communities used to fund these projects at the local level because they had a tax base of jobs.
The Feds fund projects like interstate highway that will benefit nationally everybody. This could lead to finger pointing and blaming for your community.
