4 hours ago ·On September 21st, a brutal day at Philadelphia International turned even more chaotic when an air traffic controller revealed what he had heard caused the massive ground stop. According to the controller, a construction crew accidentally cut hundreds of lines connected to radar, ADS B and radio frequencies, leaving pilots and ATC dealing with major delays across the Northeast. Officials later confirmed that a primary circuit failed at the Philadelphia air traffic control facility and a backup fiber line had been severed during construction in New Jersey. By late afternoon, Philadelphia had recorded around 400 delays and more than 200 cancellations before operations finally began resuming.
