Fitness Tracker

I have the fit bit charge. I love it. I use it really for the sleep monitor, heart rate during workouts and interval timing. I don't even take my phone with me to the gym, I'm trying to put in work. All I see is folks on snap chat, Instagram or taking selfies holding shit up.

Samsung health tracks all exercises what you eat and sleep. Most times when I walk or run I just hold my phone in my hand.

I have the fitbit charge and the gear s2. normally I wear the fitbitcharge it tracks the HR rather accurate plus it can be seen at a glance... unlike the gear s2 where u have tp wait while it senses your pulse first

But how is it tracking your sleep unless it's going off the time you pick up your phone?

I used a diff app, sleep as android, but you input your height, weight, age, etc. and set it next to your pillow when you sleep.
It tracks when you turnover, R.E.M. sleep, apnea episodes, records you snoring, etc.

This was back in 2015 when I had the Galaxy S5. I learned that I had sleep apnea and I eventually got an autoPAP machine & stopped using app.

No lol I'm working on trying to get this all of a sudden medication weight off me. So I'm having to change my way of eating drastically
Hopefully its a medication you can get off of by eating more plant-based diet.

I'm told my cholesterol is high, I just bought 6 bunches of kale I plan on juicing.

That along with finally getting a sleep study done soon, and having my autopsy machine fine tuned, I should be shedding some weight too.

I'm 6'2", 249 :hmm: I need to lose at least 30 lbs

Are those things uncomfortable to sleep in? My doc wants me to have a sleep study done, but I sleep in shifts anyway.

Not as much as you might think, but I'm ok being uncomfortable, so to speak.

They got diff masks, and they're adjustable. Long hose too, I can sleep in the middle of my king size bed and turn over no problem.

I would just forget to put it on, or procrastinate because I ain't wanna put it on just to realize I gotta pee, or I left the stove on, or I need to put the clothes in the dryer.... then I gotta hit the button, take it back off, get up..

And if my locks ain't braided, the on & off mess with my man-bun.

Inconvenient more than anything

There was a review a few months back that said that those smart trackers are full of it.

Weirdly enough Jay-Vill is KINDA right.

If you want a pedometer then most of these trackers are good.

I'm not too sure how Samsung health or a lot of these trackers are claiming to be able to track active heart rate because wrist trackers are horrible at doing this because of the lack of contact with skin due to movement, especially exercise.

Resting heart rate is a different story, but the sensors are not as accurate unless you are using a sensor that pulses in the 750 nm wavelength spectrum, or has a red light sensor.

The green light sensor is decent (635-650 nm wavelength spectrum), but won't track accurately blood oxygen saturation (SPO2), skin temperature, heart rate variability (HRV), pulse oxygen, and glucose levels.

There are two fitness trackers that are pretty damn good that can record accurately most of these stats (except for active heart rate but they can pair with devices that due, i.e. polar or Scosche rhythm+ ,etc. ) that are out on the market but at high price points and a potential 3rd that may work as well:

Whoop 2.0: $500 new but can be found on eBay for around $250-300.

Biostrap: $250. I have this one and it works great.

Fitbit Ionic: $300. This incorporates both red and green sensors but I'm not sure if they know what the fuck they are doing with them just yet. I think they plan on doing updates to the firmware of the watch to make better use of the tech.

I know a lot about this space because I not only value the data and insights that we gain from them about our health, but I am learning about how to get into this space from a machine learning perspective.

I have my own designs and ideas I want to bring to market.

My bad on the length of this!

What's a good Fitness Tracker other than Fitbit?

Mine has gone out and I use it a lot, but I don't want to pay $150 or more again.

Suggestions?

Mods I put here because the other forums doesn't generate answers like this one does.

Contact Fitbit and let them know it died. They’ll send you another one right away. Happened to me twice and they sent it no issues. Didn’t even ask for proof or nothing. You welcome

This! They'll replace free but do you want another fitbit?

I wonder how accurate the fitbit is - I stopped using mine 'cuz I was getting 20,000 - 30,000 steps daily, 12,000 - 15,000 on days off.
Do you know about the Mio Slice? It's supposed to know strenuous climbing is not walking, etc.

a comparison video (2 yrs. old) but other vid comparisons on youtube page:

I use Sleep, but only as an alarm clock

How do you like the S3? I just got the classic
I like it, I have the frontier and I wish I had gotten the classic because the frontier seems masculine. The classic is great for both male and female.

To exchange I would have had a restocking fee.

I buy that kinda stuff from costco. If it breaks they just take it back and credit you the dollars. Basically they give you a new one. Between that policy and the gas money savings its worth the membership cost.
I keep hearing about Costco return policy, but it's on the other side of town and I don't even go in Sam's that much either to keep renewing these memberships

I looked at about 10 S3 Frontier vids, priced them on Amazon, Ebay, Facebook AND Verizon almost everyday for over a month and just couldn't make myself pay the over $200 pricetag. I didn't wanna pay the $300+ tag for a new one and didn't trust the sellers on Facebook and Ebay that were selling them for under $200...lol

Mine was a gift. I wouldn't have paid that much either

I was gonna say fuck it and just get one from Verizon and make the payments, but the Verizon version is $399 and then they wanted to charge me a extra $10 a month for line access for 2 years:smh::hmm::angry:
