Fitness Heads: Do you incorporate 'Cheat-Days' into your diet?

Peace,

What are you talking about here? Weight watchers and "myfitness" cats are the most yo-yo dieters on Earth. And of course I know how protein works, bruh. But most people are trying to lose FAT not MUSCLE. High protein, low-carb diets enable them to do both of these things.

Actually mfp has been proven to be the most effective weight loss site online. You're obviously just talking out of your ass now so ill let you have it. And for the record, low carb diets do NOT help you to lose fat. Carbs store water, not fat. High protein, yes.. but even that doesn't maintain muscle unless you lift weights. Keto, or "low carb" diets basically help the body not the store water while dieting. Doesn't do much at all to burn fat, but you win sir.

You simply don't know what the fuck you're talking about, my man. Take it easy.

Peace,

EXACTLY. He's not getting this.

Actually, I KNOW this. I addressed it in my last post.:smh: I know it so well that you're supposed to take 1g of protein for every lb of LBM you have to maintain your muscle WHILE lifting and losing weights. Again, i've already been through this process myself i'm not just talking from sites like some here lol.

You know it how??? Science disagrees with you basically. Again, if it were true people that are starving would stop losing weight, not the case. Eat 900 calories a day for the next 6 months and see what happens. You'd basically die before your body went into "starvation mode." You're honestly saying that if you're not eating your body will start gaining weight..

I know, based off of holding onto everything you take in right? The problem with that theory is that your body has a requirement of calories daily just to be able to provide basic functions. In other words, it HAS to burn calories for you to live therefore wouldn't be able to hold on to everything you take in. It really doesn't even make sense. If it were true explain the jews and malnourished people in Africa. That's all im saying, scientifically it doesn't make sense.

again yes if you cut your calories down really low yes you will lose weight but that doesnt mean your body fat % will decrease. it is easy to lose weight hell you can go buy a diuretic drink no water and be down 20lbs in no time, but lowing your body fat percentage is as easy

those starving people you mention are losing their muscle mass through starvation thus the reason why you practically see their skeletal system.

let me ask you this what was your % fat before you loss the 80lbs vs now

Peace,

You simply don't know what the fuck you're talking about, my man. Take it easy.

Right lol... mr "it doesn't work that way at all." Oddly, every bodybuilding site on the web disagrees with you but I don't know what i'm talking about. Niggas online are hilarious, do you even lift????:smh:

I can't front, I cheat EVERY DAY at least once. I have not been able to find a way to stop the sodas, so I have at least one soda before noon most days. I thought my daily migraine prevention medicine would do it because the taste was bad at first, but hell I got use to it again. I HATE THAT HABIT. It would probably stop the migraines too, but I can't find a way to stop.

The only other cheating I do, is for my husband, he has to have fried catfish at least once a week and it's ALWAYS on Fridays. Most times I will just eat the salad I make because I get burned out on it quick. But I'm back in the gym 4 days a week (which is not always easy) and some weekends and me and a couple of coworkers walk at lunch. I drink about 6-8 bottles of water a day.

34% vs 9% now. Again, all the shit you three are trying to tell me I already know. I just didn't bother to go into all the details considering mr "you dont know what you're talking about" is so dead set on proving me wrong and probably doesn't even lift. Bottom line is, starvation mode is a myth and % deficit diets DO work. They are they diets that almost ALL bodybuilders use to lose weight. Hell don't listen to me, go to the bodybuilding site and look at their nutrition section and see for yourself. They're going to tell you the exact same thing.

I've lifted for years now. Like MILLIONS of others, I've effectively lost weight/fat by cutting carbs while increasing protein consumption. The evidence (scientific AND anecdotal) support every single word I've typed.

Where is this science? All you're talking about is keto, which is greatly known as a "fad" diet. Not to mention that as soon as you do start eating carbs after the "diet" you immediately put on a ton of water weight and bloat. But i'm sure you already know this.

i talk to a bodybuilder every day at the gym; he preaches the 5-6 small meals a day to prevent your body from going into starvation mode where you begin to burn off your muscle mass vs your fat.

i will say it again if you cut your calories way below what you are use to you will lose weight but that doesnt mean you are losing fat

LOL @ 5-6 meals a day to keep from going into starvation mode... WHAT????? The small meals per day is supposed to be to keep your metabolism going, WTF does that have to do with starvation mode? Good lord im done with this topic... I hope no one is taking the advice in here for goodness sake.

:smh: It's not a "fad" diet, bruh. Do you really need me to provide scientific data to back up my claims that high-protein, low-carb diets enable weight loss? Are you fucking kidding me?

Op....do yourself a favor and listen to what I have to say...If you're looking for the most efficient way to lose fat, keep your muscle, and get your body correct, do the following..

Lift as heavy as you can. Don't listen to weaklings who say lift lighter but more reps for cuts... Fuck that bullshit... The heavier you lift, the more muscles you will develop. The more muscles you have, the better your metabolism will be.

Get good rest... 8 hrs sleep if you can...

Eat 5-6 times a day....Incorporate 2 high quality protein shakes in your meals( mix with peanut butter and bananna for extra calories ) ...No bullshit like muscle milk... Do some research online.

Eat a lot of green leafy vegetables...

Drink at least a gallon of water a day....

Do low intensity cardio.... 30-45 mins 5 days a week.

have a cheat day and mix it up from time to time so your body doesn't get used to any particular diet...

Don't listen to bham_brotha.

Dammit I cheat! I'm not a body builder trying to make weight or compete, if I workout I can eat whatever I want in moderation.

you do what works for you i'll keep doing what works for me. btw the method i use comes from a best selling book by a professional bodybuilder...

Call the presses because I have to agree here. Except I don't lift weight, but instead I the bodypump and sculpt classes that covers that for me.

Keep your negative shit to yourself.

that bodypump is a beast... recently started taking it

the first few classes I didn't last the whole class and by the 4th class, the instructor fronted me out and said by now you should have this. I kept my ass right in there from that point on.

I like sculpt too, it's different but I can tell the difference.

the lunges :itsawrap::itsawrap::itsawrap: worst part of the workout. it is a good workout though i would recommend it.

I always think back to what The Rock said in Men's Health or Men's Fitness back in the early-2000s (or late-90s). Basically with the lifestyle & amount of time spent on the road and in the ring with the WWE ... one had to take care of themselves. Eating right / training / etc. Hard to keep a set schedule with the amount of globe-trotting and shit. He basically added he was eating right 6 days a week ... and then having 1 major cheat day (just to kill the monotony). Donuts / pizza / that type of stuff. Believe it was Saturday or Sunday. Once he was back on track though ... Monday ... back to eating right.

This does two things for me...breaks the monotony from eating clean all week and treating myself from all the cravings. Another thing it does is put me back on track when you know you at wings or pizza mentally you feel like you got get back on the kick and go harder to burn the junk u ate.

I have a cheat day twice a month, especially if I made some gains or increased some strength for that month.
I like to eat healthy but there isnt nothing like eating some chicago deep dish pizza once in awhile

I'm not going to debate you....I know it to be true from personal experience.... Don't believe everything you get from google...

Starvation mode is real and its easy to fall into. Its as easy as getting in the habit of skipping meals.

If you don't eat on a regular schedule your body will start storing food because its unsure when its going to receive more nourishment.

I lost weight quickly when I was eating six small meals daily.

I typically let loose a bit on Sunday, but really, I just eat whatever I want when I want. I eat sensibly all the time, so if I feel like having some junk food, I don't hesitate for one bit.

Like others, I'm not a fan of word/concept "diet". Just use common sense and eat sensibly. Watch the portions, and get your workouts in, and most everything else will fall into place. Really all I do as far as keeping track of my diet, is to make sure I'm getting enough quality protein. Everything else takes care of itself.

Exactly.

As others said, it's a new lifestyle not diet.

With that said, you can't avoid doughnuts, burgers or whatever your cravings is forever, so yes you need days you splurge. But you do it for one meal only, and watch the portions. The biggest problem that people have on splurge days when they are starting out is that they go back to eating how they used to eat before they started. If they want pizza and used to eat half of one, they'll eat half of one on their cheat day. Have your pizza but remember portion control.
