Here's a thought. What if an extremely massive object is coming. Say a small brown dwarf star. It would have other bodies orbiting it and outliers would show up before it would. A brown dwarf star would be difficult to see if you didn't know where to look or you happened to stumble across it. It could also possibly be our own stars twin. A lot of solar systems have twin stars. Maybe ours had one and it didn't fully mature and observes a very long oblong rotation around ours.
