whatup to my fellow ny bgol members i been a time warner cable customer forever and recently i've been thinking to switch over to verizon fios.. well my question of course to the bgol fam which 1 is better..would love to hear the pro's and cons of both..thanks in advance

anyone know if u can get dynamic IPs with fios. Like can you reset your router and get a new IP that will bypass Rapidshare limit and stuff like that?

Fios handsdown. The download speed alone is enough to pull you in. But the 20Mbps upload speed is fuckin unreal.

time warner base speed 10mbps for $33. The representative insulted me talking about I could boost it up to 15 for $10 more... I think i'm done with time warner

if u want separate things like internet TWC comes out alittle cheaper. bundle wise Fios maybe the deal.

how much are niggas paying for fios? i pay like fucking 170 for time warner rite now

Damn $170 dude is that after tax, with all the channels and 4 boxes? I mean my shit is close $120 for most channels (4 premiums) phone and highest net in the area with 2 boxes (1s a dvr) with twc. but having worked for at&t their customer service is great at first there price will be close to twc's but the net and picture quality will definitely be better

to answer the question about changing ur ip address, ur system is run through ur router if u wanna unplug and reboot your system (takes 5 - 10mins with u-verse) u can but i know they do offer the feature built into the system but at the time it was like $50-60 more per month.

Verizon should work better than u-verse since its all fiber but i have no idea on how their package rates increase. Tw is now limited to a max of 7% increase (fine print for each state and typically only applies to customers who signed up after the new reg went into effect) but before that shit was ridiculous

son i got 3 HD boxes and no premium channels...i got the three way joint cable internet phone but i have a landline and i use the cable # for my fax machine...where did i go wrong

Fio's seems like a decent deal, but make sure you read the fine print, and ask them about standard price's.

From what i can see they are hittin niggas with the old bait and switch tactic's. they offer you phone , internet, and cable for sumthing like $79-$99 a mo for the first year, but after that it goes up to standard pricing and then you start paying out the ass.

Plus they lock you in for 3 years if you try to back out of the contract you gotta come out of pocket for like $350 or so.

Also you can never downgrade your service with fios only upgrade, you got expensive phone tax, anytime you have any problems with your cable they charge you like $40+ to come out, and during installation they install this large as box on the wall ( shit looks like a home security system ).

I mean other then that the service is great you got widgets to tell you the weather instantly, the channels are well organized for optimum viewing, fast internet speeds, and you can even play games from the main menu while you watch t.v.

All and all you have to do your homework because all cable companies have flaws only diffrence is Verizon is a bigger company with better marketing strategies.

Don't sleep on Time Warner Cable tho they will be dropping sum dope shit too tho, they just launched 3dtv a few months ago, new technology called switch digital gives you more bandwith through your cox cables, interactive t.v (shopping, getting promotions, polling etc) , wideband 50mb internet speeds, and they are comming out with tristate wifi tied into the internet you have at home.

FIOS is what's up, if I didn't get a great deal from my cable company to compete with them I'd still be with em.

Fios.

I have TV and Internet 20/20, 1 HD DVR, 1HD box, and 1 Standard Adapter, HBO package.

$120/month...price locked for 2 years.

Fios handsdown. The download speed alone is enough to pull you in. But the 20Mbps upload speed is fuckin unreal.

20 upload is all you get with your FIOS? Man, you should call them back. With my FIOS I have the 35 upload and 35 download package..

Recently switched from Time Warner to Fios. I have to FIOS is the shit.

Better DVR- (more memory)

Better Guide

More HD channels. Even the standard definition channels look better.

Better Speed.

More channels.

Price is definitley better.

Plus now they have a no worry guarantee. There is no contract so if you don't like the service you can just bounce, with no penalties.

I had fios since march. Multi room dvr, on demand and faster download speeds way better than cablevision. Only downside is the price is a little high

not true, there is no contract or ETF.

I have 3 boxes (1hd dvr, 1hd and 1std), phone and internet. I get showtime free, thats my only movie channel. My first bill came to $133. $50 less than what i was paying for optimum, with no movie channels at all.

this was the case and if u are still locked into this type of agreement threaten to go to their competitor, they will bargain. AT&T and Verizon will both bend over backwards to keep u as a customer.

TW is a decent company but u have to know how to play them. if u tell them a U-verse rep came knocking on ur door offering u a better deal, man here they were doin some serious price cuts.
brothers play them dont let them play u an rape ur wallet.

shit i called once to complain about the price my grandma was paying an dude at TW was like no problem we have a new lower price plan same stuff an extra premium channel and $10 less per month. sometimes all you have to do is call
