I've been with comcast for almost 10 years, reason being so because where I live there basically the only cable company besides direct tv or dish. Recently Verizon fios has made their way around my way. I have currently have the a top tier bundle package with comcast, I have the X1 package with 1 multi room DVR that can record 6 shows at once and I have to 2 other HD boxes in other rooms. I have their ultra blast internet service and a home phone which I need for home security. I pay $230 a month, mind you I damn near have all premium channels and NFL redzone included. So Verizon is currently offering 150mbps a custom tv package and phone line for 79.99. It seems like a no brainer so I call their sales rep and then here's where it gets crazy, 79.99 doesn't include equipment to have what I basically have with comcast fios is charging $225 a month even taking out all premium channels they want $182. A few things I need help with, 1st is it worth switching I have issues with comcast internet service it's very spotty I never get a solid connection when I do speed tests I get 28 Mbps up and 12 Mbps when I'm supposed to be at 100 Mbps. I call and complain, they fix it but soon enough it happens again and again. 2nd do the prices soar after the end of the contract they already want $225 a month. 3rd is fios a reliable company with less issues how is their internet, their quantam tv does it look official pls my bgol brothers I need some insight :please::idea:

Went through the same thing this summer. Went with Fios and am pretty happy so far. One thing I noticed, it seems like if you bypass customer service and try to set up online, you may get a better deal. I was able to get the exact amount I was willing to pay under a 2 year contract by doing everything online.

I left Comcast years ago man, they had shitty customer service amid diminishing quality of internet speed. Now I got better service and high speed internet without the downtime I had with Shitcast...

Fios has the best Internet anywhere. That 150 is for both upload and download speeds, not just download. The problem you may or may not have is a decent wireless signal throughout the house. Make sure the tech puts your router in a centrally located area. If you have ANY problems at all call immediately, after 7 days they charge to relocate the router. Don't let them put it in a garage or basement unless you have wired equipment you have to have in that area. They do have boosters/extenders that work through the coax instead of relying on a wireless signal that are good and that would also give a second or third location to hardwire. Their TV service uses the Internet for some features so unless you piggyback a router, you are stuck using theirs.

All the service works off your electricity. You can purchase a battery back up unit for your phone in case the power goes out. Make sure the tech shows you how to reset the equipment before leaving.

Finally, find out what price you will be paying AFTER all those discounts expire. Make sure they last the length of your contract if you are under one.

Comcast is the fucking worst. Once you go to Versizon FIOS you will never go back to Comcast. I suggest buying your own gateway or modem and router as I would with any ISP.

They allow you to outright buy their modem for $149 thus eliminating the rental $10 a month bullshit

left comcast for fios a few years back and the best decision ever.

better costumer service
more channels
more HD channels

Fios all the way - better customer service and more HD channels. Another thing I like about Fios is they offer free premium channel every so often so you can preview premium channels you may not have in your package, They also have their own magazine called spotlight which shows upcoming specials and movies for the month. A comcast rep came to my house last month with a hell of a deal - I told him no thank you - when he kept trying to get me to switch I turned into the white guy who was fucking with sunshine on Harlem nights - I said get your mgr on the phone - he said why - I said so I can tell him i ain't never coming back.

fios service is superior in every way
from my personal experience:
order only data- 2nd lowestr bandwidth available
insist on it
after a while they will offer you a lower TV rate with HBO Showtime free for 24 months
and might also throw in dvr and lower equipment charges

The only thing Comcast has over FIOS is the X1 voice command remote. That shit is sweet as fuck.

The rest of the service, especially the internet fucking sucks. The wife and I often work from home and the fucking WiFi drops and kills our VPN sessions at least 3-4 times a day whereas it very rarely happened when we had FIOS.

I'll be going back as soon as this bullshit ass commitment is up.
