MSI isn't too bad. I know a lot of folks who love their Motherboards but I'm an Asus man. They seem to be tapping into the laptop and vid card industry a little more. I'm actually using one of their 8800GTS vid cards and have had no problems. For that price, I think it would be worth it.

The video card is the clincher for me - the other specs I'm cool with but the vid card is the selling point for me because this model is selling for 600+ elsewhere and similar speced laptops approach $900 outside of the holiday season.

I'm pretty sure the store will run out before I get there. I just called one store - they had 2 in boxes and the dude told me he would put my name on it but he wanted me there when the door opens at 11am. We'll see.

Intel Core 2 Duo T6600 2.2GHz, 320GB HDD, 4GB DDR2, DVDRW, HDMI, GeForce 8200M-G Webcam, Windows 7 Home Prem

$430

Real good specs on this  so I'm tempted on buying this for myself instead of reselling it......

Gadgetman, since you view electronic specs like trading cards, how soon can you estimate the next upgrade is approaching? Ex. SSD hard drives are roughly 500 dollars for 33 Gigs, a year from now, would you say that 500 dollars can get me 120 Gs?

Basically, all things electronic improve every 5 or 6 mos? :dunno:

Also, if it's not already on youtube, I'll record a video of big electronics plaza in Seoul, South Korea by late December. By Chinese New Year, I can also a video of the outlet in Tokyo. I think electrik relaxation posted its location so I'll follow up on that.

If it had the 17.3" screen I would check for it.:yes: How is MSI as far as quality goes?
The only 17" I seen for under $500 where refurbished and had older CPU's, personally a 15.6 is big enough (almost too big to be carring around) for me, A 17" lappy is just huge, a desktop replacement not someting would bring on a plane :)

I have the Toshiba L505D-S5983 (has a 320GB drive) and had to take the 1st one back because the drive was clicking, talk about it in this thread, the 2nd one however is perfect. Really like the new nice & cool AMD Dual- Core M300 :) The specs where really nice for the $$$$$ also the keyboard is a lot better than the HP/compaq's I had. Windows 7 really make these cheaper laptops fly.... The laptop itself is not as slick looking las HP and bit bulkier but is lighter, overall a good purchase. If you buy a cheaper AMD Laptop try to get one with the new CPU so far I have not seen any others with this cpu yet???

What model u had problems with??? Thinkpads use to be rock solid so I'm very curious?

SSD are really not catching on that much here in the states, due to price and all the problems they had with 1st generations models. Myself I would love to see more affordable SSD laptops but they are really not cost efficient yet and most companies are puting out more budget minded lappy's. I also think by the time you can get a 120 GB SSD hard drive for cheap the 500 GB & 1TB regular hard drives will be in the under $500 market by then, so sadly I don't see much for the future of SSD for budget people :( (hopefully I'm wrong)

Yup that's about right 5-6 months.

I on youtube ( http://www.youtube.com/user/gadgetmang ) infact trying to think of way to get some of that Mr. Chi City youtube money

I look forward to your video

I was like :eek: when I noticed a small line outside the front doors as I parking in the lot as soon as my local office depot opened doors. I knew they only had 2 in stock since I called the evening before. This mesh-sandals scrub pants wearing PUNJABI mofo grabbed the 1st one and I snatched the last one.

They both were sold within 10 mins of the store opening

:dance::dance::dance::dance:

Thanks for the heads up, fam

Whats so good about this laptop I'm looking for a new one right now for xmas. Can I get my pc games going on this shit or what? I got a bullshit gateway now with a 160g hd and 1.2 gigahertz. I use it mainly for browsing and stealing music and porn.

Yes they are nice but prices do not start at $400 :smh::confused: (the core to solo's CPU laptops start at $500) but still thanks for tip, 8 hour battery life is definitely a plus.

That's what I am looking for. I want to one day get at least 3 large laptops for a venture I want to start.

I foud out I wouldn't be able to use my giftcard online so I checked bestbuy and saw they had this netbook for 229.00

Its a rebranded acer aspire one on gateway but I liked it and I used my giftcard in the store and got it for 200.00 flat plus its xp so I can dual boot with ubuntu or mac os easier since dual booting with vista is a bitch n win 7 is too new.
I like it, its small and perfect for my writing n travel needs.
And it looks very profesional and sleek.
And I'm happy I can avoid the black friday bullshit.

You da man Gadgetman! I got mine this morning. Got there first thing. They had 7 in boxes, 1 on the floor, and I got number 7. This Asian couple actually beat me to it, but I grabbed it and headed to checkout while they were still arguing over whether to get this computer or the one the wife thought "looked" nicer. They had to settle for the floor model.:lol::lol::dance::dance::dance:
