Fellas I Didnt Know I bought a new DVD player from brandsmart. not expensive but it good enough. Its a Phillips DVP5140 with divxx. I was putting a cd in that has photos on it. The cd also had a jordan clip on it. the clip was saved in data format so i could watch it on my pc. How about that shit played in the dvd player. so just to make sure I took my stack of avi movies I had downloaded over the years and all of them played as well. Am I late or did I stumble across some shit? No more burning DVD's unbelieveable.

You mean DivX...? Your player plays DVD and DivX files...Many video files you download are in Divx or AVI format, you should be able to play them in your device...

I got my Phillips DVP642 about 3 years ago. There are a few different DivX players on the market now, some a lot more expensive. Before the Phillips brands, you were looking at paying up to $800 for a DivX player.

man my panasonic plays divx, havent checked all my joints but lookin back that mofo did play a few and its lik 7 yrs old.

the philips are gaining in populairty because with the 642 and 5140 there is a way to "hack" it to make it region free. a lot of middle eastern and asian cats came in to CC, when i used to work a lot, gettin it. i did a search and thats what i came up with, region free viewing. so not only can you play your data discs, Divx files and normal dvds but your ass can watch porn discs* from all across the world on it if you wanted to.

*this being a porn board i went with the easiest example however normal discs from across the world will play fine too!!

Some players(mostly offbrand) dont even require the format to be divx. Anything that windows media can play without extra codecs should work.
