FANTASY FOOTBALL 'fundraiser' for BGOL?

gentlemen,

i've had the pleasure to participate in a couple of the yahoo fantasy football leagues with several of you.

i have a proposition that will keep things friendly, competitive and interesting.

i will run a yahoo fantasy NFL league with a low 'buy in' price of $20 per person.

at the end of the season, 50% will go to the WINNER of the league, and the remaining 50% will go to HNIC for BGOL.

low buy-in, all proceeds will be distributed (no cheesey administrative cut for the house), and in the sad event that BGOL closes before season end, 100% will go to the winner.

anybody interested?

of course, there is an issue of trust (you have to trust me to safely deliver the money at season end), but many of you know that i have volunteered HUNDREDS of dollars worth of prizes from my company over the past few years already.

let's do this, and have some fun. there's no reason why this idea can't be duplicated in MULTIPLE fantasy leagues (NFL, NBA, MLB) throughout the year.

thanks for the reply. i think we can make this work AND have fun at the same time.

for now, hold onto your ducats. football season don't start for a minute yet, so there's no reason to take money out your pocket just yet.

it's still 3+ months til the regular season starts, and i'd need to locate a dozen more 'managers'... is 16 teams too much for a fantasy league? that's what i'd like to shoot for...

if we get enough 'managers' to commit, then i can collect the 'buy-in' by august 31st.

let's see how things turn out.

i'll keep bumping this thread periodically until we get 13 more 'managers' to respond.

once that happens, i'll post the mailing address. we still have 3+ months, so there's no urgency.

online draft is saturday august 5 (the day before the 1st preseason game)
12:15 p.m. pacific, so obviously 3:15 p.m. eastern.

the league is set to 20 teams max. that is a ridiculously high number of teams, but don't be alarmed. bgol participation doesn't usually run higher than 13 or 14 anyway.

when you create your team, indicate your bgol username in your profile so we know who you are.

if you don't like the scoring, too bad. i'm new at this and if we all have to play by the same rules, it shouldn't matter much anyway.

if the draft date turns out to be a poor fit a majority of users, i will attempt to adjust it.

there's plenty of time for everyone to sign up though.

as H(black man)IC know that I am making a contribution this way instead

but i made a mistake with the password. i wrote before that it was "donations". it should be "donation" as noted below:

if we don't get a decent showing of managers by mid-july, i'll delete the league, no harm no foul.

It worked for me.. I thought I joined a few weeks ago but I guess not.. But im in now.

I've been away but I'd still like to participate so I'll sign up later tonight.

If this league doesnt follow through are there any other BGOL leagues out there?

If not I'll just have to win against one of the yahoo public teams. :yes:

i deleted the league this morning due to lack of participation.

only 4 managers including myself. LOL.

damn...i was lookin forward to taken yalls money lol...but I started a league on ESPN, so far there are like 6 teams including myself. This is a big different from yahoo, espn gives you way more options. This league is multi-season and will let you keep 1 player from your team to use next year, holla at me in the PM if you want an Invite. If you dont plan on participating the whole season dont bother. This league is for the guys that like to be active...cran hit me up and i'll send you an invite.

Why did u end it so early??? The reg season doesn't start until sept 7th....why draft so early??

i picked an early draft date because i didn't want any one manager having an advantage over another due to regional coverage.

for instance, i saw the raiders v. eagles game, but someone else might not have. maybe during that game i might've picked up on some intel or peeped a player who might have a chance of taking a starting position.

in other words, i wanted the playing field to be as level as possible. by drafting early, we all would've been held to the same DISadvantage.
 
thats part of the game though!! if cats really wanna scout...theres enough info on the web and other sources...but your the commish....

but for next year...maybe wait a little later...you'll probably have more participants
