However, generally speaking, Bull Mastif's, Rottweiler's, St. Bernard's, and Great Dane's are larger and more powerful than Pitbulls.
And all of the above mentioned breeds are more than capable of attacking, mauling or killing a human being or small child.

Unfortunately though; Pitbulls have been publically maligned largely because of rare incidents and an undeserved reputation marked by violence.
This is a dog breed chosen by drug dealers, dog fighters and other anti social individuals because they have a powerful body & bite.
These people train, mistreat and/or abuse the dog to behave a certain way, often with tragic final results.

Remember; ALL dogs (like people) are capable of biting or lashing out under the right circumstances.
But, if you do the research, I'm sure you'd find that somewhere in the background of the dog, there was something off putting which made it more possible for that dog to attack...

People get dogs and think they instantly have control, forgetting that animals need constant educating when they are young. I see it all the time. My friend has a dog that torn up her front door, ate the legs of her dining room furniture, turns on the stove, jumps on the table and eats food...the dog is a maniac because she refuses to train it. She had that dog since it was six weeks old and made little effort to establish dominance.

I was focusing more on the normal day to day training of a dog. Yelling or hitting a dog isn't training, but I see it all the time when I'm working around Kensington and Frankford.

Not all pits are bad. Pits are the type of dog, you cant be cheap when buying one
You have to PAY for the good bloodline, otherwise, you won't know what you are getting. The breeder should be able to show you the family tree. Big Boi breeds pits and I never heard of any of his dogs attacking anyone.

I've had dogs my entire life. Small and big dogs. Regardless of the size I would never physically try to break up a fight. That's what the water hose is for.
