W. Kamau Bell tells Stephen Colbert that his replacement, Larry Wilmore, isn't funny

Did you think the kerfuffle over The Nightly Show host Larry Wilmore's White House Correspondents' Dinner speech was over? Well, W. Kamau Bell may have just reignited it, and in one of the most awkward places possible.

Bell, who was on The Late Show to promote his new CNN series United Shades of America, did not take exception to Wilmore's use of the N-word when referring to the President, which was the problem many others had with the speech. No, he just didn't like "all the CNN jokes."

"He said he remembers when CNN used to be a news network, and I feel like that's a shot at me," Bell said. "And I just want to say I remember when the show that followed The Daily Show used to be funny."

"OOOOOHHHHHH," said the audience, as Colbert laughed nervously. As you may remember, he was the host of the show that used to follow The Daily Show.

What was Colbert's response? Watch the clip below to find out. The good stuff starts at 5:48:

Sadly he's right.

Not Funny compared to what we are used. Him and Trevor have had trouble finding their groove and audience.

They took over a ready made time slot for a different audience. Ironically Jon Stewart had the same problem replacing Craig Kilbourn it took him time to find his niche and audience.

Question is will these dudes be given the time and will their audience come.

you hit the nail right on the head

Did y'all know that Kamau is married to a white female? Not surprised he is taking shots at another brother to the benefit of a white male.

harry Belafonte is also married to a white woman. sheit, two out of his three wives were white women. and anyone who knows anything about not only the civil rights era, but the current conditions in the black community will tell you that mr. Belafonte not only puts his money where his mouth is in trying to uplift the lives and consciousness of black folks in America, he does the same for black people in African countries.

sheit, how many brothers do u know that are married to black women and don't do sheit for brothers or sisters in the community? no volunteer work. no donating to organizations in the community that do job training for local residents. no interest in big brother/big sister mentoring programs for black youth. no nothin :smh:

fuk the color of the woman you wanna sex up in your bedroom. wtf are you doing in the community?

I tried to watch dude's first show and I barely got thru the first episode. 5mins into the second episode, I gave up all hope. Dude just isn't funny. Due to the premise, I'll give the new one a look.

Are you equating Belafonte with Bell?

Bell's appearance on the C.O.W.S radio show featured the debut of the "cowbell".

Larry's brand and style of comedy simply isn't for everyone. I found his comedy too dry, so it didn't appeal to me.

It's crazy how unfunny white men and white women can have so much room for failure and can have late night shows that stay on the air for decades...

It's unfortunate black men and women don't have any room for failure in show biz.

:rolleyes2: Y'all keyboard-militants make everything about race. Where's Kefta with the white supremacy comment.
Kamau is right, Wilmore is corny. It ain't got shit to do with race.

Why is he caping for CNN ?

I can relate to him sayin he remembers when CNN was a news organization.... I do too.

And my feelings have nothing to do with Kamau since I didn't even know he had a show on CNN.

Maybe he is salty because he didn't get to replace either Comedy Central show

Bell is insecure that nigga isn't the only person on cnn.

His white wife put him up to this.

He also wants us to forget this nigga had a tv talk show that was so bad he hopes nobody remembers it

What did he do to convince Chris Rock he was talented. .

And when can I get my shot to do the same

Bell is the guy

He's the guy I say I know I'm say fucking better than him.

I never heard of him before the daily show.

Beginning in the 1980s, Wilmore appeared as an actor in several small film and television roles, including a recurring role as a police officer on The Facts of Life. In the early to mid-1990s, he was on the writing staff of the talk show Into the Night With Rick Dees,[4] the sketch comedy show In Living Color[4] (his younger brother Marc was also a writer with In Living Color, but, unlike Larry, was also a cast member), and the sitcom Sister, Sister, where he portrayed a bus driver in one episode. Wilmore went on to be a writer and producer on a series of sitcoms, including The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air and The Jamie Foxx Show.[4]

In 1999, Wilmore co-created the animated comedy The PJs[12] with Eddie Murphy and was executive producer until its conclusion in 2001. He subsequently created[12] and produced[13] The Bernie Mac Show, and he won anEmmy for writing the pilot episode.[14] He created and produced Whoopi, withWhoopi Goldberg.[15] From 2005 to 2007, he was a consulting producer for The Office and made an appearance on the show as Mr. Brown, during the episode, "Diversity Day" as a diversity consultant.[7][12]

I dunno for somebody that people say isn't funny he sure wrote a lot of funny shit.

I still say people just don't understand his humor because they don't know the subjects he uses.

Same problem people had with Chris Rock when he had his HBO show

LLS now that you say that it made me recall what I knew him from. I think he had a very short lived show on FX, SPIKE TV, or TBS.I can't recall if it was funny or not, but clearly the show didn't catch on.

This was all I was thinking. Nigga YOU ain't funny at all!!!!! How dare you dis Larry Wilmore!
I'm bias, and I think larrys dinner roast was funnier than colberts. This Kamoo guy had a show where the pilot was crap. How does your we'll run dry so quickly? Is it global warming?

comedy is like food. Some like wendy's and some like burger king.
Bell has had comments about Willmore before. Personally, I find Willmore funny and Bell not so much.
