Facebook bans British man as meatball reference mistaken for anti-gay slur: ‘I like f----ts’

Robert Wilkes, 54, of England, has condemned ‘political correctness gone mad.’ The social networking giant, which shut his account for 12 hours, says the word was ‘misinterpreted.’

An English meatball dish bears the name of the derogatory American F word used against gay men. Foodie Robert Wilkes was stunned to see his account closed for ‘using homophobic language.’

A British man was banned from Facebook after his "I like f----ts" comment was lost in translation.

Robert Wilkes, 54, was booted from the social networking site after bosses thought his love for the classic English meatball dish was instead an American slur against gay people.

The stunned food lover, who was just about to tuck into his favorite meal when he made the post, had his account shut down for 12 hours for "using homophobic language."

"It may have a different meaning in America, but I used it in a food context," the ex-military guard, of Taunton in Somerset, England, told The Sun.

"Facebook allows beheading videos, cruelty to animals, stabbing and terrible swearwords — but not this. It's political correctness gone mad," he added.

A Facebook spokesman said the word was "misinterpreted."
