..some will claim 'Sour Grapes', anti-Eagles, anti-Vick, etc., etc. Or maybe it's just simply an honest opinion. A point of view.
S.I.Sports Senior Writer, George Dohrmann. "I have made my feelings known about whether Vick should have been allowed to return to the League. I hope that his signing by the Eagles brings the cancellation of season tickets and protests galore. I hope companies pull their sponsorship dollars and that Vick is greeted with boos, barks and thousands of Ron Mexico Jerseys in every city he visits." This from the city of 'brotherly love'. The city of Ben Franklin, and our first national capitol. The site of the Nation's Liberty Bell. Some would call those remarks, BLASPHEMOUS, and its utterer, a blasphemer! However, we are not talking about religion...or are we? But this is the city of Philadelphia Eagles. And we all recall how the Eagle faithful peppered 'Ole St. Nick' with snowballs, while booing him. So one should not be surprised that the Eagles signed Vick. They probably beat several other Pro football franchises to the proverbial 'punch'.
Duhrmann went on to say, "I also hope that Vick doesn't slip up again, that he becomes the anti-animal fighting crusader he claims that he will be, and millions of kids learn from his mistakes".
Many will agree with most of that observation, including former NFL coach, Tony Dungy. Maybe the city will find a few more takers among its employers to accept the offer of a $10,000 tax credit to hire ex-cons...many of whom deserve a second chance. The city has over 200,000 criminals that are 'unemployable' because of tainted pasts. An excellent target for 'stimulus' money. But few come forward.
Maybe the Eagle front office can increase its staff with a few ex-PETA employees and local cons, thus showing its effort at boosting emnployment for a 'laggard' national economy.
